I have the same boat. Make sure that your bilge is set to "auto" (I think blue) in the Connext. I think that On is green, and this setting may keep the pump running.it stays on until I unplug. Just a bad bilge or something I am missing?
The pump itself is a dump 12v DC motor. It is the SPU that sends power to it at timed intervals and measures current draw to determine if it should cut power to the pump. There are a few reasons why a pump would draw more than nominal current. The first of which @Julian already pointed out and does not seem to be the culprit. The second could be poor connections in the wiring so I would recommend checking those before replacing the pump. The rest are related to the inner workings of a copper wound brushed DC motor in which case just replace the pump.
Now if the pump is replaced, the exit line is clear, and all of the connections/wiring are good but this still happens then it is the SPU which would not be common.
Good luck and please do update us.
Yup....what @Just1more said....pull the pump and make sure the impeller is spinning freely. If it is, then turn it on while you have it off and see if it spins under power. If it does, then see if the hose is clogged or kinked.Just had an issue with mine today. Pump doesn’t empty any water. I can hear it whining and then it quits but my bilge is full of water. The connext screen turns green as if it’s pumping, then flashes red, then turns off.
Any one have a clue what might be happening?
Also, I live pretty far from a Yamaha dealer. Can I get it worked on under warranty from a non Yamaha dealer?
