BIMINI 2014 video composition collection thread

Awesome Tim !! I'm surprised we drifted 3 miles in that short time when we took the 1/2 way dip

anyone else pick up on the variance in depths we all mention at that 1/2 way point?.....

Yeah I did... lol. I used the Navionics map depth where we stopped at. I guess its kinda like a fish story though. In 5 years from now we will all say it was almost 3,000 ft deep;)

The red line from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini in that picture is our actual track from the Navionics App on my iPhone. I was VERY surprised myself. I imported it into Google Maps to get the pic.

The Bimini videos are great, you guys must have had a blast. I can't imagine boating in our boat like that in the Atlantic...lol. Does make me want to talk my wife into the trip tho..;)

You've got the perfect boat for that trip @Craig.

24 ft of boat doesn't seem quite big enough for open ocean. To be honest I expected to still see land in your videos on the horizon, but there was none at times. It would have to be awesome to boat in that crystal clear water..my kids would go crazy over this trip.

Is there an easy way to overcome launching in saltwater since we have a painted trailer? And how much is there to "de-salting" the boat after the trip?

24' of boat is ok as long as you have fair weather for the crossing.

The Florida coast line is very short in height and disappears very quickly when you are out in the water. I really wish I had a newer boat to don't his trip! I just don't have faith in my old boat. :(

The boat will be easy to clean up from a salt water adventure. Just a thorough cleaning and flushing. The trailer tends to hold water and salt inside the trailers tubing. Two salt baths won't destroy your trailer but might speed some rust along. It's really no worse than the salt ridden roads in the North during wintertime. A good fresh water flush of the trailer and a Salt a away spray after launching and retrieving is all you can do. Bring a 2 gallon pump sprayer will salt a way and soak down the trailer and especially the springs and brake components.

We will see, in the meantime Ill live vicariously through videos of those that went.

My boat is 19ft and people do that trip on jet skis all the time. 24ft is more than enough for that trip (in good weather).

Yes..A YAMAHA :thumbsup: The crossing in 2013 was pretty rough, 3-5 ft seas maybe. I was amazed what these boats can do. In 2013 there was 2@21ft 1@23ft and 1 @24 ft ....in 2014 we had all sizes covered.

This is a video collection thread:

the main trip is here: https://jetboaters.net/threads/bimini-2014-june-22.346/ should answer a great deal of the logistic questions.

2015 thread started here: https://jetboaters.net/threads/bimini-2015.2959/#post-55646

Finally got pictures from my crew... I have uploaded a ton of them to a Media file under my name. Also put together a video. Used a bit of GoPro footage but decided to take a different tack and built a huge slideshow as we had some really great shots I wanted everyone to see. I have some really good high Res photos of some of the boats on the crossing, party pics, etc. If you see anything you like and want the master photo, drop me an email.

I will finish loading up pictures tomorrow but the video is live... ENJOY!!!

THANKS TO ALL for the memories!!

Dave we love your video!! Sarah and I miss you guys!

@RobA we have several pics of you and Sarah right after the "event" that look really great. Not sure if you have a good picture of the two of you but let me know and I get get you the good ones. They are almost 10 meg each though. I can load them on Dropbox and send a link.

@justason I tried the GoPro software and it kept crashing. The MOVAVI software was trial only and watermarked it. Got frustrated on my search for a decent tool to use and I ended up using Windows Movie Maker. It's OK...

I'm actually going to create 1 or maybe 2 more video's as I still some video left.

@waterboy I would actually love those pics! Let me know...

Yeah, I have a ton of video and was looking for some different material. I liked the party pics better since I would have done another snorkeling-boating video. Trying to mix things up a bit... and share all the good pics we got.

@waterboy I was able to download the files right from your album. I don't have any pic's of my boat driving, especially with me driving it! LOL Anyway, thanks a lot, very cool!!
