I updated the first post in the thread with links and more "favorites" and a few more details....

@Julian: I REALLY like the FAQ's !

I don't know if any part of this is new, but it is so chock full of information.

For example, I did not know how EAZ-Y it is to go obtain a 2nd set of Yamaha keys !

Just wanted to help bring this to others attention, as well as say a BIG THANK YOU for all of the work y'all continue to do, to make this is a really neato "home" for us here.

Here are the IMPORTANT and LARGE LIST F.A.Q.'s ! :

@ScarabMike .... we haven't forgotten the desire for an engine specific forum layout. If you look in the forum list, you can see that I've begun this work.....I'll start a new thread on this soon so we can determine the engine break out for this. We will also be able to put in a "Forum Link" at the top of other forums that would say something like "For engine specific discussions go here>"

Lots of new members in the last year....hopefully you've all had a chance to read the first post in this topic to familiarize yourselves with the cool features we've built for you. Any questions about them??? Ask away!!!

So what break down of engines should there be for the non-Yamaha ones?

Yamaha needs:

2 Cycle Engines (was there more than one model engine?)
MR-1 (HO and Non-HO)
1.8L Engines
1.8L Super Charged Engines
Well, there are...
Mercruiser
Brp N/A engines
brp supercharged
2 stroke sea doo engines
And we should have a v8 section as well even though i don't see many joining in that catagory yet. They have some of the best knowledge of pumps around!

@Julian I would limit it right now to what we have a knowledge base. This will avoid stagnant sections, and empty threads. You guys can add more as the community grows.

Non Yamaha engines:

Rotax
Categories can then be added within that (ie: winterizing, maintenance, how-to, supercharger ect..)

@Speedling , and @JetTech72 may want to chime in as well.

I agree with @ScarabMike I think just a general forum for "Rotax engines" since so many different mfg's are using them and they can research them thru there,

The only other thought I might had is if we did have a 2 stroke but again they are dying out and with the yamahas at least the general membership usually can chime in.

We could create just one engine forum, and apply the same "Prefix" approach we used in the classifieds section to it. Have a prefix for Rotax, Yamaha 1.8, Yamaha Supercharged, Yamaha 2 cycle etc.

Thoughts?

(I would keep these prefixes looking pretty simple or they'd clutter up the post views elsewhere)

I don't think I would have one for the Yamaha, we could sub categorize the heck out of this and I think that would just cause more confusion,
this issue showed up when somebody with a chap had an engine problem and the answer was in the scarab section,

I think we should just try to focus all Rotax engine questions into a generic rotax engine section (maybe we should start a new FAQ heading for "rotax/other mfg" links)

I agree with ScarabMike, It would be nice to have a section for Rotax Engines alone that would not be boat brand specific.

Never did update this thread....we now have a Rotax Engines forum!

And for those wondering how I quoted 3 people at once....it is easy, and once of my favorite features on page 1 of this thread!

Just select the text and hit the "+Quote" button that appears....do it as many times and for which ever text you want to quote, then go to the reply section at the bottom and hit the "Insert Quotes" grey box at the lower left of the text box....and a dialog will appear allowing you to insert any or all of the text you quoted! ROCKS!

Bumping this for those new to the forum so you have an idea of some of the features and how to use them.

Latest tip....using CTRL-F in the FAQ. If you can't find something in the FAQ (as it has gotten rather large), hit CTRL-F when you get there and search for a word (like "manual") and it will take you to the FAQ with that word in it.

How to do this on an iPhone with no Keyboard:

How to “find on page” on iPhone
Naturally, there is no Control Key or Command Key on your iPhone. It is quite simple, really.

Launch the “Safari” app on your iPhone. Open up your web page containing a wall of text to be searched. Now enter your search term right where you entered the web address and scroll down to the bottom of the list.

At the top, you should find grouped hits from your browser history (if available), a regular web search, your bookmarks and so on. But at the bottom, you should see a special kind of search result labeled “On This Page”.

Tap it to get to the list of results on the current web page. To advance through multiple occurrences of your search term on the page, tap the arrow symbols next to the counter that displays the number of matches. Your iPhone will emphasize the matches using a yellow highlighter color.

ANDROID:

In chrome you go to the menu (three dots in the upper right) and click on "Find In Page"

Just joined the community. Purchased my second Sugar Sand recently (03 Mirage 1800 with the 175 Merc) and already had to replace the stator and fuel pump!! Definition of BOAT no doubt. Any ideas where I can purchase a three way guage (Tach/Volts/gas guage) to replace the non functioning one? Thanks everyone!!! Ken
Ken - welcome to the community!
You may get better and quicker response if posting your model-specific questions in the sub-forum for Sugar Sand!
