We trailer to the lake typically 2-4 days per week, so the bow wench strap gets a LOT of work. We power on/off so it's not getting a ton of cranking force, just snugging it up. Just snapped the 2nd one in 3 seasons. It's snapping at the seems near the clasp.

Any recommendations for new bow wench strap that will be durable and could trust, those stock nylon ones don't seem as capable as they should?

Honestly, i keep a spare in the escalade were the jack goes, 7 doll hairs from wally world, takes all of 5 min to spin a new one on.

Would a seat belt strap work or is it basically the same thing? If they’re different, I wonder if a body shop would have access to some.?

Huh....replaced my 2005 trailer strap in 2014. Still using my 2016 now. Wonder what the difference is. I power load and only winch the boat the last 2 inches...but the boat is still floating significantly so it's not taking a lot of weight (trailer wheel covers fully under water).

Great question! The stock straps seem very inadequate, I'd hate to see them get maximum use and how long they'd actually last/handle. Tonight, I ended up getting the 5,500# boat buckle 2" X 25' wench strap that has 8k breaking strength from West Marine, a bit thicker but much more heavy duty. Surprisingly, all 25' actually fit on the wench too.

@Evil Sports any specific suggestions?
(yes, we know you don't like them yellow color, lol) but wonder what brand did you go with.

I upgraded to a 2 speed fulton f2 winch years ago. I trailer wvery time and wife just eases on idle in forward and i winch the whole thing. No issues.

Granted my boat is much smaller, but we winch the entire distance on as well. I usually pull 10ft of strap out, and just yank the boat on the trailer that way.

If you're breaking straps at the stitching, and not using much length, then you could potential "double wrap" the strap and let the clasp just float on the mid section of the strap. Would give you a stronger connection since you would be relying on the strapping only, and not the stitching.

Do you really use the 2 speeds
You know what? I have no idea which setting it is in because we never messed with it. I know it's nice though!

Being that I rent my boat out, I have taken it on and off the trailer, probably some where around 100 times in the last 10 months, no issues. mine is a 2019. I do power load usually never have to pull it up more than a foot.

I never change it either.

I think the low range is for torque but it’s slower. Maybe for a steep ramp or extra oomph.

I use the low speed sometimes. When the ramp is shallow it makes a HUGE difference.
