Called the dealership AGAIN yesterday...

Just to recap from the old site, I had been on the edge of buying a boat since late Dec, finally pulled the trigger on a new 242LS early Feb and was told it'll be a "couple of weeks" for delivery. Like a kid before Christmas I think to myself "I can wait this out, no problem." Two weeks goes by and I'order a ridiculous amount of crap (from crapper / porta-poti), fins, Veve guides to battery charger) and can't wait to get to work on installs before it warms up. Well two weeks passes and no boat, three weeks and no boat, a month and still no boat. It was 72 degrees Monday, 78 Tue and 70 yesterday. At lunch I went by the lake to reserve an RV campground spot and saw several boats on the water soaking up the warm weather and my patients got the best of me. I go into full-blown boat withdrawal and have still never owned a boat!! Aggravated, I call the dealership (it's not their fault, they sell them they don't build them and cannot predict with a great deal of certainty when they will be delivered) and ask "WHERE'S MY BOAT?" They finally are able to give me a firm date - April. Really? April is not a date it's a month. That means it could be 45 more days and with my luck that's what it will be. My kids (9 & 7) have started asking "daddy, when are we going to have the boat?" I may have to rent another pontoon to ease the collective family withdrawal symptoms. LOL

Sorry to hear that! I know the feeling, waiting for the boat is the hardest part. I have mine and I have to wait another 45 days for this polar tundra to melt.

Are you locked in? Dealers can purchase inventory from each other, maybe force them to have one shipped from another dealer? Looks like Stokley's Marine in Nicholasville, KY has some 242's in stock. (170 miles away)

I know how you feel. I waited so long and when it came time to pick up the boat, it was raining. I took the boat out anyway with the sale rep in the rain. That held me for few days.

Wow, I would not be happy either. I like the idea of making the dealer ship one from another dealer to solve the problem. I am surprised they didn't offer that already. You know there is a distribution center is right here in Kennsaw, Ga. I see lots of boats (I don't know the specifics) in the yard. The Yamaha dealer in Kenensaw has three 242s but they have access to the distribution center as well. What color are you waiting on?

Thats why I wasnt picky about color... (red in stock) and the gray they would have to order. Good luck!

I feel your pain primedoc. My boat arrived a month ago... but the river has been flooded for the last month. The dealer wants to take me on a check ride before they release the boat to me to teach me about it, make sure I know how to operate it, and as part of the inspection sign off. All of which are good ideas and I appreciate. But waiting is soooo hard! Even after the river returns to normal they want to make sure the debris and logs have cleared. Something about not wanting to ruin my new boat it's first time out. So in the mean time I am relegated to visiting the boat in the dealers warehouse and taking turns with my daughters of sitting in the captains chair making 'vroom vroom' sounds. And of course being obsessed with this site by living vicariously through those in warmer weather and planning mods. All this fresh water has also made the crabing suck this spring. So, hey Texans, come get some of this water!

The boat arrived a month ago... (Mine is the space blue one :) )

I am sitting in the front of mine as I post now. Major boat withdrawls across the board.

Mine is in a storage barn and I haven't seen it since October. I was hoping to pull it out soon and start on some projects, but we got another 16" of snow last night.

The dealership here in Panama City has the blue one, I love that color scheme!
