Connext 12.3" Screen Recall

this is interesting because I was rushed in to signing all paper work on Sunday, so they could deliver the boat to me by Tuesday. And no update was available until Tuesday. Apparently the update didn’t help my boat because they tried installing it Friday and he said it is still not working. I’m not sure the exact issue all I was told was it was something with the ECM . But I would bet it’s the same issue you guys are having. I’m almost at the point of not even wanting the boat anymore.

Any updates on your purchase? Mine shut off the other day with my son surfing behind the boat. Just that once during the whole outing. This is the 3rd time it has happened since we've had our boat.

I got a call today that they installed the update and everything works great now. But I’m going back to work out of state so won’t be able to pick it up for 2-3 weeks now so I won’t know for sure until then.

We received our safety recall letter from Yamaha today. It was late as the dealer did my update yesterday. We won't know if it did the trick until we launch Thursday in PCB, 1 day of JetSet 2024.

Got my letter in the mail today.

Last week while my daughter was surfing behind the boat, my screen went black and of course the engines rev'd down. The engines didn't stop but my daughter is fairly new to surfing and ran into the back of the boat. I've only used my stock stern starboard ballast pump 5 times and it no longer works. The computer says it's filling but when I open the engine compartment, there is nothing happening with that particular pump. Port side works perfect. I'm hoping the software update will fix my problem as that pump shouldn't be broken this early. I'll do a bit of research on here to see if anybody has a good troubleshooting guide for the ballast pumps.

Anyone that has done an update have any feedback? I Think I remember one member saying he did it but now has other issues.

It was done a week ago. We just got back from JetSet 2024. We ran the boat about 250 miles and it never rebooted once.

Tried to find you to chat…:) tons of folks from the Lanier and Altoona lake areas.

Great to hear all went well. I had a couple of issues where we couldn’t go above 5k rpm (that’s new to us) but we got it corrected and back on the water.

keep us updated.

Im heading to Lake Martin n a few days for a week. Curious if I have an issues there.

I got my update and the boat hasn't turned off once since then. However, I did notice the pumps to my ballast seem to be operating at a slower pace. I thought that was weird. The sound they make is like they are working less fast and it takes longer to fill. Has anyone noticed that?

We ran the boat about 250 miles and had about 12 hours of float time last week. The screen didn't reboot once. it appears the software update was successful.

Did you happen to fill your ballast and notice a slower than usual fill time?

We trailered our boat and had the dealer perform the software update on 8/4/24. Surprisingly enough our starboard ballast pump truly failed after 5 - 6 uses. The failed pump was replaced by the dealer. Disappointed with the run time of the ballast pump. Overall boat performance has improved after the software update according to my wife (engines sound and respond much smoother than prior to the software update). Also, prior to the update I wasn't getting any engine response when engaging the port engine in Forward; meaning WOT and nothing (I had both throttles engaged on the Connext screen). Seems like that is working properly which is an absolute must as we place our boat in a lift. I would call the update a success but I haven't had a chance to test all of the systems yet.

I wouldn't pay for a boat that isn't working when delivered! What do you have to hold over the dealerships head if it takes months to fix?

The 5 hour drive to our closest dealer was the delay - I didn't want to pull the boat out of the water for 2-3 days. I haven't been happy with my first year on the new boat. Thankfully I had low expectations.

I am disappointed that Yamaha won't send the dealer over to update the screen software. It has got to be a plug in from a computer and a reboot (full disclosure, I am assuming this). I called Yamaha Customer service and reminded them I paid (just 3 months ago) more than 80K for this boat and that it is reasonable for them to send the dealer with a laptop to me vs. me pulling the boat and driving more than one hour each way to the dealer (esp. since this the faulty software is fully Yamaha's issue). The customer service rep essentially said it was my problem to bring the boat to the dealer for service and tried to read me policy from the sales contract as justification. Really not happy with this...Yamaha's dealer network is thin and this is a major inconvenience for their customers. I do hope someone on Yamaha boat business team is reading this...the company is no really treating new customers well at all. Maybe I should have just replaced my Sea Ray with another Sea Ray...
