So I picked up a pair of these cupholder/rodholders to swap out the ones on my swimdeck.
Rod holder
I removed the original ones an noticed that there is a drain tube that connects to the bottom of the cupholder and routes to the little drain hole on the outside right under the cupholder. The issue I am seeing is that since this new cupholder goes down deeper, 1. the tube is too short to connect to the bottom of this cupholder and 2. even if I get a longer tube, the tube will be lower than the drainage hole so if it gets filled with water, it won't drain out due to the fact that the water needs to travel up the tube to the drainage hole. Does anyone who has these installed on the swim deck on ideas to get this installed properly and still have the water able to drain out?

My thought would be to add some sort of L bracket to the bottom and exit them through the current drain hole. Yes, you'll leave some water in them, but shouldn't be a problem (unless you are in salt water).

The alternative will be:
  1. Try tapping into the deck drain
  2. Just let them drain to the bilge.

I do use the boat in salt water so I don't want to have to worry about the water just sitting in the tube. Underneath the hole is the area beneath the debris clearout panel. Can I just run a tube from the bottom of the new cupholder to the open area underneath the clearout panel without worry?
