Dry Tortugas first week in may?

That 500 would be a better choice of boats to take.
As of now I’ll take 35 gal extra.
I’ll think about it on the way down, 1,406 mile drive down from NY to Islamarada.
I would love to hold the gas and see how little I could use. But
My thought is to get it in and fill my tank when I arrive and it is dead smooth behind a island for refilling.
I will leave early tomorrow morning and keep you informed.
After I get there I will go over the boat run it for a day to make sure it is perfect. Then wait on weather.
If youre driving a pickup truck, I'd recommend filling up the 35 gallon tank and put it in the truck bed. It will be a test if it will leak. Last thing you want when on a boat is a leaking external tank. You have perfect weather for at least 5 days, lots of window to do this trip, good luck!

Not for nothing but...could you really have a good time with this in the back of your head? I'd be nervous all day. I'm out...(Sharktank)
Won’t worry about it at all just about.
I’ll stop 40 miles out at the Marquesas take some pics for you guys and make a judgment call then. That’s it for thinking about it in the trip. As far as now that’s part of the fun, sometimes planing is more fun than the trip!

Sounds like a great plan! You’ll learn a lot on this trip.

Did you get the tank that fits under the helm seat?

Nope. Just using Jerry cans that I have.
Going to put on swim platform and hold on with strap to cleats. I want a instant release and ditch off back in case of a fire issue. I want that stuff off the boat. Life has been hectic (Ihave a business and help is hard to find. No comments on that issue please.)

As long as they don’t self release .
Ive done this trip and will likely do it again. perhaps in August when lobster season is open..
