Any suggestions on how to keep ducks and birds off the cover/boat while wet slipped?

Buy a shotgun!

Just kidding...I've seen folks use fishing line across the slip to keep birds from flying around the slip.

The shot gun sounds fun but its the wrong time of the year. I guess I will go with the Owl and Snakes.. I was thinking about a windsock or two also.
Thanks

Rubber snakes on the cover fore and aft are reported to work. I don't know if an owl will bother a duck.

@txav8r ... depends on how mean that owl is!! :D

I've seen plastic owls used. I've seen fake coyotes used. I have also had success just stringing those plastic pennets around the slip. Like the ones you see construction companys use to rope off hazardous area. They are either solid yellow or multicolor. They flap in the wind and it annoys the ducks.

What can keep ducks off your dock?
In:Ducks [Edit categories]
Answer:
A blow up swan. Swans are natural enimes of ducks.
We found solar blinking xmas lights work a treat to keep them off our jetty at night. Even look good. Tried everything, owls, CD's, tape but this is the only thing that's worked for more than a week.

I've seen birds sitting on the head of the plastic owls before. I used rubber snakes, until a hawk carried one of them off...

Thinking of hanging a few DIY versions of something like this around the dock...

Big Green Egg....... with a nice rub and barbecue sauce........ Look at it as a barbecue supply chain!

and now for something completely different....

I use reflective/holgram tape on my house to keep the woodpecker from burying his beak through to my bedroom. I have to hang the tape every September

I think the same type of reflective tape might also scare away your ducks. I will gladly trade you a woodpecker for 2 ducks

Question, do you back the boat in or pull forward into the slip? The answer could be as simple as backing in and not giving them that nice low hop out of the water courtesy of the Yamaha swim deck.
