I'm sure most of this group is old enough to remember the Dustbuster. Anyone use something similar on their boat and can recommend a good one? Wifey has been buggin me for something, and who am I to argue if she wants to help keep the boat clean?

I've never found a decent 12v one....so I'm curious to see if anyone has.....

Last time I recall people talking about 18v portable vacs like the Dewalt one that runs off the standard Dewalt batteries.

I have a nice dust buster on the big yacht but don't remember the brand. It really sucks well. At home I have a Dyson cordless vac.... I think it's a slim 165 or something but I love it.

Between keeping chips on the back patio and sub moves, shouldn't be any reason for a Dustbuster on board, the decks will stay washed down pretty well with that strategy

I use a Ryobi 18v wet/dry vac $25. Suction is very good!

I have a Milwaukee 18v portable vacuum. It runs off either ni-cad or lithium ion 18v battery packs. Since I have both styles for all my Milwaukee tools this only made since. We always keep a charger and a couple batteries at the lake house, so this works really good for a quick clean up on the boat.

I never vacuum the boat....simply push the throttles and let the wind do it's thing.

Speaking of this, one of my last manuvers of the day is a sub move to get all the crap out of the boat. This weekend I had the water almost up to the top of the seats. Of course drying all the carpet out inside the compartments requires some fan action but I still think it's worth it. Would be nice to get rid of the carpet under the front seats.

I used my work anniversary reward to get this "little devil" (Gator 10.8V). It picks up the kids' crumbs and I like the telescoping nozzle (shown). It can get in the cracks where most of it ends up after I try to blow it out pushing throttles. I used it several times on our lake vacation all last week without ever charging it. It started to slow down a little near the end like a Dustbuster; but overall nice to have around, practically no storage space needed and it only cost me five years at the same place. This is not a powerhouse.

I am still using the alarm clock I got back in 2005 for my FIVE year anniversary at work! It was either that or a plaque (how random). At least I made one solid decision in my life!
