just got me thinking of maybe replacing these ...

what are the capacity/rating for the factory trailer winch and the jack for the 24 footers?

I think 3,200 for the winch and 1,500 for the jack.

wow 3200lbs for the winch? thats quite a bit!

I suppose I'm not really sure what the factory rating on the winch is... The Fulton F2 that is on my trailer (and a lot of others) is rated at 3,200. From what I remember the factory winch looking like, a similar winch is rated at 2,600. The replacement strap I bought was rated at 10k.

How do you like your Fulton F2? Does is have the same range of motion/lift?
I hate the factory jack, I guess it works but it looks so flimsy...

@swatski I have the F2 winch, but not the jack. My crappy Fulton jack (not the F2) that was on my trailer bit the dust last night. I contemplated the F2 as a replacement but it would have been $150+ with the mounting plate. Instead I bought the Harbor Freight jack for $30.

I forgot about HF, need to look there!
I want something more heavy duty. When I have the boat by my house, I like to crank the jack up high so that all the water drains out. The OEM jack inspires no confidence... (I do prop it up with a concrete block so that I do not need to extend it too much, but I still worry that jack is going to fail underneath the boat)

I did the harbor freight jack too (for my SX230)....much stronger than stock, and the range is longer too. (might be in my signature block)

Just put a F2 on my trailer. Seems nice. The gears are protected. Ever got a finger in there?

Thanks Julian - this is what I needed to know!
I think @Ronnie performed a vivisection on one of the Fulton jacks and there was some issue with it, if I remember correctly.
But nothing beats $30!!!

so i looked at my trailer jack and its tied in with the bow stop... how did you guys manage to get an aftermarket jack in there?

N
@blacksapphirez you thinking about the winch, right?

--
No, The jack. Its one unit with the bow stop. Ultimately looks like you have to remove the bow stop to remove the existing jack.

But now that you mention it, the winch is also a part of the bow stop. Cant really modify that either huh...

I changed out my winch today, i had to cut the left a little to fit in but works

did my jack today. clearance is bit tight so may add some washers to push away from the frame
and on an unrelated note, i changed my spare tire to the left side :D
