We live in McKinney, TX (just north of Dallas, TX) and last year did the Disney/Orlando trip stopping in Destin, FL for a few days to break it up. We had a blast and want to do another trip this summer. What have been some of your most memorable and favorite locations here in the U.S.? We'd like to use our 5th wheel camper for a fun trip. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

We did Destin last year and it was great. Also notable in our family history were Washington DC, Chicago, and San Diego/Monterey.

Never been to DC, but have been to all the other locations mentioned. Adding DC to the list. Has anyone ever been to Yellowstone National Park or Yosemite national Park? I've always wanted to go to both of those.

years ago we did the run from the grand canyon to Yellowstone. Jackson, Tetons, hoover, crater, canyon, petrified forest, devils tower, and into badlands as well...it was amazing and perfect for a camping.

DC is striking distance for us on a weekend, we've done it twice over 3-4 day weekends and need one more to finish seeing everything..... there is plenty to see there, and its all great.....

Cape Cod is a great place to visit. Water can be cold and no where near the clarity of the gulf but there is lots of history, great sight seeing and great food. Might be a pretty long drive though.

There are so many spots to hit from North Texas Hawk. It is a distance but with time and the 5th wheel, what incredible memories can be made. When I was 15-17, we had an early version of the Class A motorhome, a Dodge 27' Travco. We did 3 separate month long vacations starting from Dallas. In the SE, you have the civil war battlegrounds across the south including Vicksburg. Of course that trip might include New Orleans, gulf coast, Memphis (say hi to Elvis), Nashville, Chattanooga, and the smoky mountains. That same trip stretched long enough can take you to Key West or north to DC, NY, even Boston and Maine, and across the Great Lakes and south down the Mississippi basin. Probably best to break this into several trips.

A westward run will include, Palo Duro Canyon, the different Pueblos in NM and AZ including Albuquerque, Taos, Santa Fe, Durango/Silverton narrow gauge railway (incredible), Canyon De Chelly, cliff dwellings, Monument valleys, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Grand Canyon NP, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Yosemite, California (includes many places like the Napa, the redwoods, Death Valley, and more), up into Oregon and WA for a little salmon fishing, Seattle and Vancouver with the sound, ferry rides, Victoria, across the Canadian Rockies and the badlands (Mt. Rushmore), Yellowstone NP, Devils Tower, and down through the central US.

I had the good fortune at a young age to see all of these places up close and personal. All I can say is this land is awesome! Enjoy your travels and get a good camera!

There is this tiny little town in Illinois called Shelbyville where this bunch of nuts Jet Boaters meet the first week of August every year....it would be a trip to remember for sure!

DC is amazing....went there again last fall....lots of walking though!
The Keys are fun and more like being in the caribbean than other places in Florida.
Lake Powell is on my bucket list.
