I took on a new project today, a 1973 Marlin Taurus with a 427 Chevy. The boat was my father in laws and sat for many years. I picked it up and looks like the only positive is I don't see any holes. Every thing is rusty and a critter made a home under the tarp. I will be checking info on everything from getting the Fiberglas to shine to jet questions. I have no clue honestly, if it wasn't a family boat this wouldn't be my project,

wow we don't have any those here, Welcome to the club, and post some pictures to see what your starting with,

We have an old school member that restores them, I'll try to find the post or two they made, they haven't been around in a year,

Thanks Scott, I'll get some shots in the next day or two. Washed off all the heavy dirt today now have to figure a way to get the color back don't want to mess up the fancy green paint. Going to pull the 427 and have it checked and change all of the gaskets if it checks out.

when you upload the pictures make sure you put the year and model in the title, it will help it stand out for members to see since it's so unusual,

She looks fast!

And it already has tinted windows to boot!!

She looks fast!

She was at one time, hope to get the interior stripped out, motor pulled, and get her back to original "splendor" for next summer. Any suggestions on cleaning the gel coat or would I be better having it repainted?

These types of project kill me. I get so anxious to see the finish product that I completely engross myself in the project until it is complete. If I had to rebuild that boat, you would not see me for many months. People would be wondering if she finally killed me. Lol. Good luck on the project and keep us updated!

Well not looking good for the 427, has been at the machine shop, found cracked heads, bottom needs complete rebuild. May swap for a marine 454 block he has in storage, hope to find out this week. So far, transom, stringers, floor, complete paint with original flake colors, gas tank being built, new seats had to make the framework before the upholstery could be done, steering wheel, all new cables, new gauges and chrome. Let's see did I leave anything out oh ya new rug, and well you get the idea. Could have purchased the queen marry by now. Did I mention found frame rot on trailer, new trailer to be in this wee.

Looking a little better

Would anyone happen to know where I might be able to get a windshield?

That's gonna take a custom built windshield. There is a couple companies out there, search it on the web.

Might look even better without the windshield!!
