Let our guard down after 2nd to last run of a nice day of water skiing and rope got sucked up in starboard engine. Check port engine see dealer alert come on. We got the room out and it runs fine. Turn off and on, same alert. We are at 10 % fuel. Advice, thoughts?

Do the following 3-5 times in a row to clear the error.

  1. Batteries off
  2. Batteries on
  3. Start both engines
  4. Stop both engines
  5. Master key off (if you have e series)
  6. Go to step 1

If what @Julian suggests doesn’t work, you might want to pull the pump. It’s possible there’s a small piece of the rope that’s still jammed in the space where the shaft goes into the hull.

Is it weird that the rope was stuck in the starboard engine, yet the port engine stopped working, until we got the rope out? And the port engine has the warning alert.

So, yes, that is weird.

May be that you have a sensor or something swapped somewhere and going to the ECM for the other engine. Stranger things have happened... But that would explain it.

I have found it takes more like 10-15 times.

Thank You..Thank You! I owe you a beer!

I was getting the alarm with Normal code, so I thought I would have to take it to the Dealership to clear it. The boat has never been back since purchase (7 years ago). ?
I tried everything before your sequence. Its back up and running with no alarms. Still had original Interstate starting battery, so I replaced it while I was going through this, since its also 7 years old with never a problem. I have a house battery I added a couple of years ago. Original battery 24M-XHD to same battery new model # M-24MS $124.00, if it helps anyone.
Happy Boating!

212SD. Same issue last year. The battery on/off technique did not work But started each engine separately engine forward and reverse stopped and started and code cleared.
