Last weekend I had two different couples come over and want to take a look at our boat while we were at the sandbar. One of them was on the fence about purchasing one but once they saw it in it's element and walked all over it they had made their decision. Another couple was about the same thing, was thinking of upgrading from an I/O and, after I let their son do 1000 cannon balls off the rear deck and his wife saw how safe it was, decided that was going to be a new boat.

Recently my cousin was looking at a new PWC, had his heart set on a Sea-Doo as that was the brand he rented. I told him to go take a look at the Yamaha's as their boats come "all in, no building them out to spec" - he's picking it up today. So that's one confirmed and two assumed "sales" of these fine machines in less than a week...

How about you?

1 for sure, but it was used. Took mine to Florida last year, my girlfriend's brother loved it so much he went and bought an 08 SX230. I get a TON of looks locally though, not a lot of center consoles around IL/WI lakes (except Lake Michigan). Had a couple swim 200 yards across a cove to come look at it last year at Rend Lake in S. IL. Turns heads for sure.

I rode in my cousin's SX210 many years ago and kept telling myself I would own one someday. Everything about the layout did it for me while on the water.

Since owning our 242, I have had pontoon guys climb on and walk through. The common response was, it's like a pontoon, only designed to go much faster. They would never move away from their pontoons/tritoons now, but probably thought to themselves that they had not looked at all the good options when they purchased.

Similar situations while out on the water with other boaters wanting to take a peek. There is really only one dealer near us that I use/recommend, can honestly say it's been at least 4 that I'm aware of, there are probably more that I'm not. I keep busting the dealers balls and asking for my commission check...to no avail! LOL!

I had a guy stop me on Lake Cumberland last fall while cruising in my 2016 AR240. He wanted to talk based on appearance alone. He loved the look. I gave him the jet boat "sales pitch", let him drive for about 30 minutes, and then set the hook !! One week later he owned that AR240. What I did NOT tell him or anyone else ex. the wife was that I really have wanted the 242 SE and more so since the 12"Connext screens came out in 2018. My dealer was able to locate a 2019 in neighboring state right after 2020 models were unveiled at dealer show , and I liked the 19 colors and graphics a little better than the 20s. Didn't hurt that Yamaha had also just started $3k rebates on end of model year closeouts !! It all came together , I got my dream boat at about $8-10k less than trading it in through the dealer.

When I got my 242 in 16 it was the first year and the huge bimini was quite a departure from the norm. There is and island in the middle of Lake Livingston (Pine Island) where boaters gather on the weekend......as many as 100+ boats. I hadnt seen a whole lot of Yamahas up to that point. But when we slowly cruised by the island my 242 LSE sure seemed to get alot of stares. Since then, in the last 4 years, there has been a definite increase in Yamahas! Dont think I can take credit for that.....sure as hell didnt get any commission :)

Seriously - need to email my salesman and start demanding some rev-share on new customer acquisition.

I think we can all take a little credit for selling Yamaha's by the way we act and treat newbies on this forum.
There is so much truth to your statement
A lot of people use forums to gather information and depending on forum it sways people from getting information we all share on regular basis.
Probably on more than one occasion but that is what makes this forum great. Hope not to be a newb for much longer.

Yamaha for me me is like I won't drive a car that isn't manual or AWD. I have narrow window of brand loyalty.
Yamaha FTW

I fully agree. However, I actually know of 2 people who PM'd me with private questions because of the way they were treated as newbies on this forum. They were afraid of how they would be treated asking a second question. People, let us not loose a good thing! Yes, 90% of the time we are great with the newbies. Let us make that 100% and bring more folks to love what we love.
