Just dropped in a new set of Polk MM651UM speakers in my 2011 SX210. Got these for Christmas from my wife, who also got me a Rockford Fosgate amp. I was looking to get JL Audio MX650s, but she beat me to it and I certainly can't complain about getting the MMs. Amp isn't in yet but I couldn't resist installing the speakers since it's so simple. Considering they're just running off of the stock HU right now, I'm pretty impressed with the sound. Power will definitely be good for them!

Yes, i am thinking of doing the same thing on the exact same boat, so i would love some pics, (especially of the amp install)

Those are sweet looking! They LOOK like they sound good. I"ve got some Polk Audio's installed in my Jeep and I'm very impressed with the sound quality.

I do like the look in the boat. They really match well with the upholstery color scheme. The grill seems to be a lighter plastic than I would have imagined, though. I'm sure it's strong, but it doesn't have a particularly substantial feel to it. Sound is really quite good, though, for this type of speaker.

Just wait till you get some power behind them, and tuned.

I do like the look in the boat. They really match well with the upholstery color scheme...
I was actually quite irritated by this when I bought my Polk db651 speakers last fall. Sometime in mid-2014, apparently, Polk made a change from the previous grey tone color scheme on the db651 to more of a brownish-goldish-earth tone scheme that does not match my upholstery - which looks very similar to yours - very well at all. I almost did not install them, but I eventually decided to use them as my wife thought they looked OK. This color scheme change is worth noting for anyone considering swapping out OEM speakers for the db651.

I am happy to hear the mm651um speaker line still have the grey/black color scheme - I might go with them on the swimdeck this year. Alternatively, I might go with the JL MX650. I am down to those two but have not yet made a final decision.

Thanks for posting the pix, they look great!

For me it was really between the JLs and these MMs. My wife made the decision for me by getting the MMs as a Christmas present! Can't wait to feed them some power from the Rockford Fosgate R600D amp she also got me. Having heard how these sound even backed by the crappy power coming out of my stock HU, I am more than confident that they'll sound great once powered by the RF amp and set not to get the very lowest frequencies. Next year, I may add a JL IB sub from Earmark.

I have those speakers throughout my boat and on the swimdeck too. I have amped power behind all of them and believe me you will not be disappointed in the sound. I also have a 10" Polk sub in a ported box to fill in the lows. I'm very happy with the way it looks too. My speakers match yours and I've had them for several years so I'm glad they haven't changed the design yet. Get that amp installed and let those Polks really sing.
