Lost anchor

Very stupid question. I used my Yamaha stock anchor for the first time yesterday. The anchor held and set very well. However, I couldn’t get it unstuck. As suggested, we drove to the opposite 45 degree side, to no avail. Any suggestions on what we did wrong? For clarification we boat on Lake Texoma.

What did you do after? Did you cut it? Did you leave a marker to retrieve it later?

It could have been caught under a pipe or cable, making it very hard to recover.

One way to attempt to get it back is with an anchor ring. Pull the anchor up, slide the anchor ring over the rope attached to the anchor, and use the anchor ring to pull the opposite way, so the anchor ring travels all the way down to the shank and let's you pull the anchor by the bottom.

If it happens again, you may need a spoiled anchor line....a smaller line in addition attached to the back of the anchor, so you can pull there if the anchor is spoiled.

Best of luck.

We ended up cutting. It was the stock anchor, so I didnt lose much. I couldnt understand how we couldnt get it loose. Will a mushroom anchor work for a bottom like Texoma?

I have one for sale. $60 bucks plus shipping

Yeah....zip tie is simplest solution...just needs to stop the pin from rotating.

I've found mushroom anchors to be pretty useless except in no wind situations. Its Basically just a weight.
