Hey All,
New member here. I don't own a boat that floats yet, but I'll explain what I am doing. My BIL and I decided to build a wooden runabout called a Squirt. This is a 10' wooden boat that plans were made by the folks at Glen-L. Our thought was to use an old jet ski and power it. So, in my haste, I picked up a 95 Polaris SL650 PWC. Engine needed a piston. Fast forward to the present, and pop the engine open to find it is way worse shape, and the broken rod that is attached to that bad piston broke the crankcase and the cylinder.
We get talking, and figure the 650 triple might be a little big for the Squirt, not to mention two grown men look huge in this petite hull. So, an outboard is going on the Squirt for his kid's.
We are now going to build a 14' runabout call a Zip, which I think will fit us better. I was all set to purchase another broken down jetski, but it got me thinking, should we go that route, or should we just pick up an engine, and jet drive that would work with that engine and start the build from scratch?
Appreciate any help that you can offer. ?
