If i just leave the Boat in the water here in Thailand for about 4 days and then remove it we don't suffer any kind of barnacle invasion but some of you perhaps remember last year when it was left longer and i refurbished the pumps well that was around a year ago and unfortunately due to a bereavement in the family of where i keep the Boat and as the funeral lasts about 5 days with many family members attending and boat parking being used for relatives cars i decided to do another referbish as even though i had thought i had got away with it there were still signs of barnacles.
Not as bad as last year but they got me again
Ok start to do the hard work and prepare to primer and paint
Pumps stripped and painted
Working hard to get in all the small crevices and do a good job, 41 degrees at 2 pm on my balcony today paint dries quick but flatting's hard work.
Impeller clearances ok no wear in impeller housing, No marks on impeller, Bearings cleaned/checked and i use oil / grease mix on rebuild, Ready to get it back together.
There are distractions with the young apprentices running away with the small tools.
Had to get Mom to come and keep them occupied while i got the job done.
Watch TV and build the nozzles in comfort
Pumps back together, Used a hard polyurethane this time to see if it helps
As I'm always on the lookout and getting spares over here is difficult, On one of my many trips to Bangkok i came across these in a spares shop for sewing machines. Plastic and Phosphor bronze bushes and inserts, About a dollar for the lot.
Trimmed to size and fits a treat, maybe better than the original i will let you know in a few months.
Another one put to good use.
Well it's all back together and no play in the steering thanks to the new bushes etc, Hope you enjoyed the thread, I noticed on a few threads that there seems to be a problem with loose floor mountings for the table where it goes through the cabin floor and i appear to have the same trouble so i have a few ideas i want to try so i will post my results when i get around to tackling the job.
