So, I run wide open to the duck hunting area on a river. Then to get to the sloughs, I start running into heavy weeds. I don't need to go fast at that point. Just drop decoys and setup. My question is what do you guys do in that scenario? Open to all suggestions. I was thinking of making some sort of wedge in front of grate that can split debris from intake. It could be raised when not needed out of the weeds. Has anyone seen such a contraption? Other ideas I thought of is a small outboard mounted on a bracket that can be dropped in when needed. I have a trolling motor but to heavy of weeds for that. Open to anything..thanks Slim

There’s a company that makes specialty grates and blades for this, even hydraulic so you wouldn’t get wet. Not sure if anyone on here has used them. You would want to contact them to ensure it will fit. They have videos on their site as well.

I don’t think that will work for an outboard jet.

Likely not but figured I’d post the company in case he wanted to inquire about them. Perhaps they have something in the works for outboards.

Thank you for the idea though. I was hoping that someone designed a plate that enclosed around the jet area and would not cavitate at slow speeds and it would draw the water from below the plate.

Do you have a trolling motor? I'd use that through the weeds.

Go faster through the weeds?
