@zipper , the news I see states that most of Vermont is flooded. What difference from the West Coast, I don’t think any rain is expected in the forecast until November.

Most of it...

For a birthday present my son bought us a day at the local track. It was a full day event. An hour of classroom training and then 4 1/2 hour driving sessions. First was each of us driving our car, following our teacher in his car to get “the line”, second was just us going for it, third was with our teacher riding shotgun in our car, giving us instruction and lastly with our teacher driving our car and showing us what the car is capable of. Although he said he didn’t really push it since it wasn’t his car! Mario Andretti I am not! It was all really fun but scary and disorienting. The change of G force, right, left, forward and stopping really threw me off. Zero to 120 back to 30 in 45 seconds, wow, then somewhat sharp turns at 60-80, wow! Glad we did it, but probably a one and done for me…. It was much harder thanI ever imagined!
Anybody else ever take a car around a race track?

Got a deal to do a similar event at Summit Point, WVa on a track with 22 turns. Had a fantastic time, and it was way harder than I expected. Multiple rounds with and without instructors. And it WAS my car, so I was pretty conservative.

Wow, nice Golf R. I had a pretty quick 83 GTI back in the 80's. Lowered, stiffened, punched out and 10.5:1 comp. 15" wheels and Yokahama a008r's
This picture was before I did that work.

Great car! Hopefully someday, some kid is going to learn a ton putting that thing back on the road and is going to love every minute of it...although it looks like it's in great shape under the dust.

My R was a great car. 300hp, six speed manual, all wheel drive. So much fun to drive. Had it for over ten years.

Back in the day I had 2 1992 VW Jetta GL Wolfsburg’s. Pretty sweet cars but the NE Ohio weather beat them up. My step mom still has this 1 owner number matching 4AG black top 1987 Toyota Corolla GTS 5 speed. Worth more now than when it was new. The Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are the 30th anniversary cars to this more. Dad was bored one day post retirement and decided to shoot it blue opposed to the grey it was from the factory.

Love that cue ball stick shift!

My CoWorker was a chief in the Navy (submariner) and was stationed on the Saudi border working for the Army (as he says he was Narmy paid) and said it was always 115+ sometimes over 125. Said he never turned his truck off just to keep the air blowing as cold as it would for as long as it could. He said you get used to it until the air changed and blew in from the gulf and then it got hot and humid and was even worse.

I am rapidly becoming accustom to temperatures above 100 living in the DFW area. Sure beats the cold in Northern IL.
Amazing what you get used to. We have our AC set at 77F during the day and I swear I usually feel chilly and my feet are cold.

I’ve started refering to the Southern US as West Afghanistan. I’m just glad that the African dust is in our favor to keep the hurricanes to a minimum….for now.
