Hey Team. Was out on the FSH this weekend and in some pretty good size chop. Hit a good one and the engine cuts out. Starts back immediately after stopping and turning key off and back on and off we go. Hit another good one and same result. Happened three times and then no more the rest of the weekend but smoother water. I checked the back hatch by the jet cleanout and the switch there seems to be ok but maybe some play and flex in the hatch?

Only other cut out switch I know of is the lanyard switch which was set but maybe some play there as well?

Any ideas? Thanks / Scott

My guess is that your hatch switch is marginal and just needs adjusting slightly. Probably the weight of the lid is keeping the connection and when you hit a wave, the weight is lifted and the switch depresses. You want the latch pressure to be what is holding the switch....so adjust the button so it is higher and you should be all set.

There is a cut-out switch over the clean out port door. Check to make sure that it is adjusted correctly. If it is not fully depressing the switch, when the cover lifts it'll kill the engine. You can either adjust the threads on the switch or glue something like a nickle to the lid.

I had intermittent engine cut off that I thought was going to be cleanout hatch switch related and it turned out I didn't have the negative battery connection tight on the post and big bump would make it run rough/cut off

Scottintexas has a good point on the negative connection. After I bought my FSH, I noticed, much to my chagrin, the "NEGATIVE CONNECTOR - MUST BE CONNECTED" wire, was in fact, not connected at all. Check your connections while you're there just to be sure. It affected my console electrics until I fixed it. Everything goes through that wire bundle.

Yep, that little one is actually for the voltage sensing relay. Same thing here about a year ago.

Was this the verdict?

Same thing is happening on my 2016 FSH and it is getting frustrating to navigate at high speeds.

You can adjust the locking levers most likely the problem is there I had the same issue with 2022 252 sd going over choppy waves were causing the engines shut off.
