Getting the wetsounds EQ taken out. Nothing but problems

What kind of problems have you had?

Mine has been up & running for about a month and it has been a champ - I love it.

In my situation which could be completely different others, the fuse constantly blows. Ive tried all the trouble shooting available and even took it to the installers who sell and do this stuff for a living. Problem is the warranty is from 1 yr of purchase so to all the new buyers, do not buy the EQ in the offseason. Get it as close to when your going to use the boat as possible, then your warranty will expire a year from that date not when you bought it in the OFFSEASON. I basically gives you a few months in case something happens.

Im not going to replace it as I really have no use for it. I dont use the mic ever and can basically set the settings on my HU so the music still sounds great. The simpler the better in my situation.

Boat is at the dealer now so a final answer on wtf is going will come later today.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. I am sure you will get it figured out. "The simpler the better" - words to live by.

Finally got around to finishing my fish finder install... Which reminded me of my biggest frustration of my boat, getting behind the helm area. I'm not a huge guy, but any bigger and there would be no way in hell. As it is a large struggle already ... But it's mounted an hopefully won't be climbing back in any time soon! On a side note, was mounted using a ram mount, if you are going to mount in that location make sure you go as far right as possible or else you will not be able to access the holes from the helm compartment.

Its official blown EQ. Have to order a new one now because it would be cheaper to basically plug the new one into the wires then to take the bad one out and rewire with just the HU.

Added 2nd bilge pump, and put 2 new axles on my MFI trailer! Also added brakes to the front axle, new brake lines, basically rebuilt the entire trailer other than the frame.

Sweet! Hopefully you took pictures along the way.

@GTBRMC What is the cross-bolt fix?

It's the straps. I have the same issue with them loosening up. The Shorlandr trailers don't have the loose bow stop issue that the MFI's do, so no welding or bolting needed.

Wow, that sounds like quite a job. What happened to cause the need for this. I am curious, since I have, in essence, the same trailer.

@veedubtek Did you ever get the fender locks put on?

BTW... She looks good without all the extra stickers. Mine isn't sure if it's a Twin Engine or a High Output anymore either, but I haven't gotten brave enough to remove the side decal.

I haven't yet, @Bill D . Been using fender tenders in the meantime, but I think I've decided I'm just going to use those fender locks on the bow. Got sidetracked with Bimini, gonna have a closer look at it again this weekend on the lake and see if I can decide where I like them.

Understandable. I was just hoping you would have it all mapped out for me with pictures and instructions of get (2,3,?) for each side and place them right here. :D

Why are you thinking just the bow and where do you prefer to place a fender in the mid-aft area? It seem like the perfect place would be just behind the mid cleat. I was thinking I could get by with 2 on each side. Mainly in the middle part of the boat.

It seems like the bow rail is too far forward to do any good unless I'm driving into the dock  and the tower post is annoying to tie to... So maybe I just need one on each side. Haha.:greedy:

Coming back from the bay last week, I'm guessing the brake got stuck or something which caused the bearing to overheat and actually fell out as I was descending a long hill. Either way, bearings, brakes & axle were shot. I did lose the bearing bra on the way home, not sure if that had something to do with it, or if it was a result of something else going wrong. I did check/grease them all before we left in the morning, everything looked good. Had to wait to ship an Mfi axle, or replace with a different one and get it in 1 day. Easy decision as we were leaving for Lake Anna Saturday so I had no choice. Ended up replacing both axles just to make it easier should I have any issues in the future. (Forget the brand at the moment ) While I was at it, added brakes to the front axle since they came with, so now I have brakes on both axles. I had replaced all of the corroded brake fittings and lines from the original owner with stainless previously, just added the same for the new brakes and we were good to go.

I put in my amp this June. Its a JL Audio XD 700 W Class D and a Wetsounds XS Series 10" Free air Sub, 600 W max/300 Watts RMS

Thanks to all who posted previous stereo mods and sub woofer installations. Cutting the whole for the speaker was no big deal since I saw a previous post that had some issues putting it in. I used a RotoZip. It didn't cut as great as I hoped but I don't think I had the right bit. There is a special fiberglass bit. I bought a bit at Home Depot that was for fiberglass but it really didn't cut too well. I wired the power from the battery with I think 4Ga wire. I bought 20' and that was more than enough when I ran the wire through the fuel tank compartment. I put a 50 amp fuse in the battery line near the battery. I use the fuse as the on/off switch. I left the stock Polk speakers and they sound pretty good when you are just cruising.

Sadly, the boat is so loud its hard its hard to hear the stereo at much more than 2,000 rpm. I may have to look into some sound proofing next summer.

Wow. Sounds like quite the job. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it. I will check into these parts on my trailer.
