I know many of us like to tinker on our boats. If you're anything like me, the "mod bug" has no limits :) Figured a similar thread to the boat one, but for our tow rigs, would be nice.

Apologize if one of these threads already exists. A quick search returned no results.

I added a Firestone Ride-Rite air bag system a couple years ago. I have a 2015 Ford F-150 that we use to pull both the boat and travel trailer. The boat isn't terrible, but the camper was a 32 foot travel trailer that made the back end sag quite a bit. I installed the kit myself in a few hours and it's been awesome. You can level your ride and remove the sag, plus its makes for a little comfier ride when you are towing.

Been wanting to upgrade the audio in my 2017 F-150. The front doors are 6x9 but I wanted to make the switch to a component setup. Ordered some adapter brackets online to make the install easier (or so I thought)

First thing I noticed is that the tweeter mounts did not fit in the adapters
20191011_100614.jpg

So I used the Dremel and opened them up a bit
107196

A quick bead of hot glue to seal and secure the mounts
107197

With that out of the way, it was time to bust the pry tools out and remove the door panel

The guts

Test fit is no good. Looks like Ford uses some nonstandard speaker size/bracket
107198

So... time to turn the speakers into brackets...
107199

Cut speaker out
107200

Dremel out the basket and coil
107201

Final product cleaned up
107202

My component adapters then needed be shaved down to fit inside the 6x9 speaker bracket
107203

Mounted the speaker. Glued/screwed all brackets and did a little cable management
107204

Test fit is good!
107205

Removed the speaker and added some sound deadening
107193

Put the speaker back in, put it all back together! Windows go up/down without issue, doors lock, and the tunes sound good :)

Got around to finishing the rear doors today. Love how much quieter the road noise is now.

Not today but a added a cargo box and hitch step to my Expediton to make it more usable for a trip to a cross country meet with my son and his team mates. I got a great deal on a new cargo box on Craig’s list ($100) but have back any saving on the purchase of the hitch step ($75 OTD). The step is useless when it comes to towing but I think the cargo box will come in handy for the weekend long / camping boating trips.

A few days ago i installed a cat-back Corsa exhaust, which sound freakin amazing. Everyone at work can't believe how great it looks and sounds.

Now i just got to wait for my Tuner friend to set up my 2 tunes, mild for overall improvement and when i hit the tow/haul button there will a more aggressive tune.

Can the Toyota ECM change timing/fueling in Tow/Haul Mode? GM's only change shift parameters, not engine parameters are messed with. Never understood why GM did that myself?!?!?!

They change fuel mapping, ignition, vvt, shift parameters etc. They do this and use the tow/haul as a switch for second tune than can be done on the fly

That's nice you can change all those parameters in the ECM. Wish GM would get on that bandwagon. All I get are transmission modifications with the Tow/Haul button.

Got some new rubber all the way around. Truck and trailer

Not my truck, but it will be. I ordered this wheel/tire combination from toyota. They're OEM for 2021 4runner trd pro. Im stoked.

Channeled my inner "Sanford and Sons" vibe and put the boat on jack stands, then repiled all the garage crap around it.
PXL_20210424_215458099.jpg

If you ever have the chance, you should do this. Once securely on 3 jack stands, shake the crap out of the boat. The amount of flex in the bunk supports is somewhat unnerving.

Hopefully new radial tires to get installed this week. Didn't want my boat sitting outside a tire shop for a few days since everywhere I called in town would have to order in radials for the 13in wheels, and wouldn't order them until I showed up. SO, yank the wheels, and take just the wheels to them. Hardest part was using two jack stands to slide the boat back against the wall so the wife could still have her garage parking spot for the week!

Just realized my last post was about the boat in the tow vehicle thread......oops.....to make up for it, here's what I did to the ZeroF'sQ7 yesterday.

Before:

After:
PXL_20210501_145813344.jpg

Got the Q7, 3.0T, and quattro badge off the back. Those four rings are the last chrome on the vehicle. Gonna try and track down some black ones to replace the chrome here soon.

Still haven't towed with it :( having a helluva time finding someone in town with 13in radial tires.
