On my AR240 is there a way to tighten the tention so the throttles dont creep back so easily on there own.
My port throttle is tolerable but the starbord throttle will back off if it is set anything less than 5500rpms
I would rather fix myself than take it the dealer. I dont like anyone else wrenching on my things if i can help it
Thanks for any help
James

Slipping throttles are a chronic issue with our boats. There is a pair of friction screws on the back side of the throttle quadrant under a rubber cover. If that doesn't help you can go deeper and try @Speedling's fix located in the questions section of this forum. Many have had success with his fix.

Yup, sounds like you have the throttle drops...

@Julian @Neutron - I have a 2016 242 ltds and yes it has the same binnacles as the earlier models. I had the same issue and tried the tension screws which only made the throttles harder to move but did not fix the drop. I did do @Speedling fix but crimped the forks instead of using tape and it worked like a charm. I was able to lossen the tension screws after doing this and now have smoother throttles.

Annoying that it is such a well known issue and a design flaw that could be very easily fixed during manufacturing of the throttles but they still have not. Perhaps it is a safety feature?

Thanks guys. I will take the throttle assembly out and do this fix.
It is a shame that almost all of these boats have this issue
