I have some questions and observations...
I have a 2016 242 limited S that is new to me. I notice that this boat takes on a lot of water and in some places has pretty poor design. Water get's into the bilge pretty easily through the cleanout hatch and the cup holders, ESPECIALLY the cupholders on the transom. This USUALLY would not be a problem. In most boats that's what happens, but also in most boats the bilge pump sits at the lowest point and easily pumps the water out of the boat. I have installed a second bilge pump in the ACTUAL bilge and when I tested you have to dump several gallons (like 15) to get it to engage. That IMHO is waay to much water in this boat before it pumps out anything. if this is the case, why not have the cupholders drain to a scupper valve??? I haven't removed the one's in the cockpit, do they?
Here are things that I have done:
  1. Second bilge pumps
  2. Replaced cup holders in transom with (NON DRAINING).
  3. Replaced anchor locker thru hull
  4. Caulked around the cleanout tray

Is there anything else that anyone has done to reduce the amount of water that get's in the boat?
Thanks!

I wet slip for the summer and also added a second bilge pump underneath the clean out ports tray. Where did you put yours?

Other than pouring water directly in the transom area when I installed it (to make sure the pump was working properly) I haven’t tested like you did.

I put it underneath the clean out tray ports tray, all they way by the drain plug. However, since there is a groove there, it still isn't that low. It really takes a lot of water to get it to engage. If it wasn't such a PITA to get it in there, I would add a third and just have it to a switch without a sensor. So how long has your boat been in the water, and have you checked the cleanout tray to see how much water is in there?

I’ve wetslipped and found that after rain I have quite a bit of water in the bilge. I get out in the channel and plow along to get the nose up and pump a majority of the water out. If no rain then no water gets pumped usually.

The water from rain I think is 99% from the cupholders. Most of the water that hits the deck goes out through the scupper. I wonder if anyone has put lines on the cupholders and attached to scuppers? I don't think it would work for the cupholders on the transom because they are too low, but it would work on the rest of the boat.

interesting. When I wired mine, I only wired the negative and the automatic wires. I didn’t bother wiring the “on” wire to a switch. Maybe I should. Could you not do the same thing?

I wired mine as "always on" with an automated electronic sensor. When it senses water it comes on and pumps. So, I didn't wire to a switch either.

Thanks, I really am not having that problem though. I also just installed a snap in cover and it does a much better job of keeping water out of the boat then the mooring cover (granted it was 5 years old). I got the colored resin snaps and you hardly notice they are there. Best of both worlds.

No, not your model/year, only 07-09 AR230's to my knowledge. @Babin Farms has an 09. Put down and read a level while she floats.

I fully expected this to be a thread about water shoes.

I have nothing to add but my disappointment.

:)
Beat me to it…

I looked at the diagram and they should! It looks like mine are not connected.
