Just watched a few of those videos from boatingmag and in the one video the wake boarder when talking about the boat says the boat is just over 17' long when you remove the swim platform so it fits easily in a garage. So this boat isn't really 20'? It's actually 17' which would explain why it looks so cramped. And yes I know our Yamahas include the swim platform in their length, but our swim platform/lounge areas have a little more functionality than just being a point of entry and exit into the water.

I know this is an older thread but they now have a larger 22' model called the WT-2. It has the traditional offset captains helm instead of the center console design of the WT-1. http://heydaywakeboats.com/wt-2-specs/

These boats have a very strange design (I actually kind of like the "Indy car" look of the bow). I'm not a fan of the curved "hot tub style" rear lounge seats and the vinyl quality seems kind of cheap (it is a Bayliner after all). They could have used that space better and not wasted it on hot tub seats that look like it would be a pain in the ass to get out of, not to mention stepping on the cushions. I would have rather preferred they make those into storage lockers and have a full sun pad like a normal wake boat instead of those two hot tub seats.

As far as wake and wave goes, I'm actually pretty impressed with what their able to produce. Wave looks strong and with plenty of push, even on the small 17' boat! Shows their hull design is working very well as these boats do not come with a lot of ballast stock (1200 lbs for the WT-1 and 1800 lbs for the WT-2) compared to traditional surf and wake boats that carry thousands more ballast. Sure it's not going to rival the more expensive wake boat waves but it's not bad at all IMHO.

We have a boat show coming up next week and I'm hoping some of these will be out there as I intend to test ride and demo a lot of the wake boats.

I've since sold my AR240 and bought a Centurion for a rockin' surf wave and nice sunpad.

I've followed HeyDay since they were first introduced. The people running have a long history in the towboat world. John Dorton (formerly from MasterCraft, and now at Bryant) and his son started it. I actually was very interested in buying a WT-1, but decided a more traditional layout was needed. I really like the features of the WT-2. It's very 'base' in terms of features, but it's a core riders boat. I've seen one in person and was very impressed. Tons of room, storage and the hot-tub seating was actually pretty slick. I would've preferred a full sun pad, but I see why they did it.. likely because you'd put a passenger on the side you're surfing on to put more weight down.

My favorite features were:
  • SeaDek everywhere
  • Simple wakeboard tower
  • Simple helm
  • Crusader V8
  • Tons of room & storage
  • Super simple surf setup, and a great wave behind it
  • I like that there's no windshield. In FL, it gets HOT and I'm constantly standing to get the wind in my face.
If I owned one, I'd go through and add some speakers & a sub, but that's about it. Everything else is really straightforward.

If this boat is really $50k new w/ trailer, that's a good deal. Your next best option would be a Supreme S202 ($62K), Moomba Helix ($60k) or MasterCraft NXT20 ($63K). All those brands will hold their value longer too.. I think you could scoop a leftover model at a good price. Just depends on budget.

I called a while back about them and was told by the dealer they were getting buried with orders (good sign). I'm really rooting for this brand. Just my take on this.

Congrats @prorider17! Those Centuruion's are bad ass!!

The Supreme boats really catch my eye for the "budget" (still expensive as hell lol) wake boats. They have a nice deep hull and a lot of nice touches and features for the money. I've read they ride pretty good in rough water and chop too. I'd love an S238 but I'd love to have any of them :D!

@haknslash - You're right on the deep-v hull. That was another reason I went with the Centurion. For surfing, the deep-v puts out a great wave. It's a little finicky for wakeboarding, but I don't focus on that as much. It also rides great through chop and rough water. The S238 is a sweet ride. It's amazing the cost difference when you jump to a dedicated wake-boat. They are in a market of their own. If you can afford them, they hold their value!

This has got to be the most awful wake boat I have ever seen (WT-2). And - when I first saw the WT-1 - I thought to myself "OMG, you could NOT make a more awful boat if you tried!". I guess I was proven wrong, LOL.
IMHO

I guess the positive is when you're back there surfing you'll never see or worry about its funky looks :D. The wave it puts out is pretty impressive though IMHO.

Dear Yamaha,
Please note this boat has a mount for a tablet that allows you to monitor all engine functions as they are put out by the boats Wi-Fi.
Thank you,
buckbuck

They have done it in the Connext, press and hold the SYS button and it goes into engine/system function screen.

That Moomba Helix looks pretty sweet. There is a Heyday WT-2 down the road from me for sale. They are a Bayliner dealer. Boat Sales of Lake Wylie if anyone in the area is interested in taking a look.

@cozilla - the Helix is nice. Super high gunnels, tons of storage in the rear for BIG ballast bags. They just introduced the Max, which is based off the Helix. I'm yet to surf behind either boat, but have heard great things.

Looks like they came out with a new 23.5' model for 2018. Still looks pretty cheap and not a fan of the seating on it. The overall hull shape looks better than the other models but still funky as hell looking. I will give it that it seems to throw a decent wave.

Looks like they came out with a new 25' model for 2018 (it looks small for 25' IMO). Still looks pretty cheap and not a fan of the seating on it. The overall hull shape looks better than the other models but still funky as hell looking. I will give it that it seems to throw a decent wave.

Pretty nice looking feature set....but still can't get past the looks. Kind of like driving a box on the water....

The hot tub seats are an interesting idea....they look comfy.

I do like the armrest on the drivers seat that lines up nicely with the throttles!

For the 55k they want for it you may as well just buy a better boat. For another 10k you could have a Moomba Max near optioned out. The WT-Surf looks much better than the other models but they killed it with the horrible bathtub seating crap. Engine is too far forward as well taking up interior space and seating. I'm going to the boat show tomorrow and I'll take a few pics of this "thing".

In this day of age there is something appealing to me about function being exalted over form.

Unless you can fill 'em and heat 'em while anchored, they're ridiculous. Would be a good seat for the dog, i suppose.

I stopped and looked at the Moomba Max and liked it, but I really think that IF I decide to go that direction, I'll just go with a Mastercraft NXT. I know it doesn't throw a wake like the Max and is smaller, but I trust even a basic Mastercraft to stay closer to what I owe on it than a Moomba will. I must say that the UGA color scheme (red/black) on the MC NXT20 they had there was one damn fine looking boat. I wouldn't change a thing other than hanging some cans on the tower. Just beautiful.
