This weekend I installed A new depth finder in my 2005 Yamaha ar 230... When I was fishing the wire to the control unit through the Throttle area I think I snagged on a wire or something because now the port motor does not start it's like it has no power to the switch Maybe a fuse? But I'm pretty sure I didn't short anything out I am just wondering if I can get access To the throttle area Excluding the cup holders … is there access through the throttle unit? to see if I pulled anything off any connectors this weekend I'm going to pull the dash out and then go from there … on the other hand the dep finder works great.... haha.... By the way the starboard engine starts up fine I just have a feeling I have pulled something somewhere Any suggestions would be ..

There is a neutral safety switch. Is your motor turning over or nothing at all?

It doesn't turn over and it doesn't click it's like the switich is not even hooked up...

if you look in the FAQ tab at the top of the page there's lots of great tips, there is one for loose throttles, it will show you how to remove the binnacle to get access underneath,

U can also press the neutral over ride button on the throttle and see if it turns over that way..

Check the clean out hatch switches. i believe those are the ones that will prevent anything from happening at all. Safety switch they will crank but not start. sounds like you were in the cleanout cover area working. i would look there.

did you play with the battery terminal connections at all? it amazing that even slightly loose battery connection will zero out the power flow.

If it’s clicking it’s a bad connection, dead battery, or time for a new starter. I went out to my boat and tried. No noises at all when throttles are forward or clean out hatch is open.

Try holding down the hatch switches while someone tries starting the port engine. If no joy there open the round access hatch inside the aft starboard locker. That's where the modular connectors are for the hatch switches. They are labeled Port & Starboard. It's possible you pulled a wire out while fishing your cable. I just found a couple of contacts inside those connectors had some corrosion causing me the same issue. I cleaned then up and good yo go.

Neutral saftey switch will cause same symptom as hatch switches.

And if not any of those it could be that @chess effect! The liners swelled on his boat over the winter and were binding on the impeller. .

like @bronze_10 said.... both of my liners swelled big time, even though I could start the one motor, I had them both shipped off to riva... couple thousands later i was good as gold. Honestly being in salt water and getting snow, I felt that it was a good idea on a 13 year old boat.

I do use salt away religiously now to cut down on the stuff... I hope it works at least :p I see the bubbles at the rear of the jets hehehe....

I'd pull it like @Julian suggested to have a warm fuzzy... Post a photo of them and be done :)

Even with swelled liners you would still get signs of life when trying to start. There would be a groan, grind or at least a solenoid click. With none of those signs this problem is definitely electrical.

I just have a funny feeling I have no power to the switch because what I was doing trying to pull some wires for the depth finder until I can get around in there and poke around in I'm not gonna know for sure but the port engine is just no power no click no nothing..... Since those areas that I'll be looking around R in are so tight I just want to minimize what I have to pull apart i will also be curious what is s powered in that side compartment near the throtts is their power on the throttle is I'm just pretty sure I pull something loose...

Neutral switch on throttle controlcontrol highly probable culprit. I suspect this also.

@chess can speak to this mote.. A clicking is probable... But there was no grinding. . Or turning or squealing.. It was locked up tight! Well. At least one engine!
