I know a few people here and there use JetConnex already but I've just never seen many pictures. We all know how pictures satisfy :D and - it certainly gives a cleaner look. I always wanted to finish this off on my 07 230 but I just never got around to it. I got as far as a purple 6 foot connector :rolleyes:

I drilled through the trailer for the bottom two bolts. The XRX bracket was designed for a 4 inch tongue.

Here's what I purchased;
- 1 Yellow 6 foot connector - 7 blade round, 5 wire round - Model 67 for $34.99. Purple was out of stock :(but the yellow was on sale, $10 off :winkingthumbsup"
- 1 5 pin receptacle - Model 5RR $7.99
- 1 XRX Bracket kit $14.99
- $13.70 shipping
Total cost $71.67!
Got it all here ---> https://jetconnex.com/product/#jet

@Rigger , is that the 3 or 6 foot connector? Did you cut the stock cable and splice in the new trailer side female plug? Nice looking install!

Alright Mel @txav8r you must be sitting in the cockpit with a rum and coke on aircraft WIFI using your phone :p. It's the 6 footer, model number is 67. I spliced right into the stock wiring via the folded trailer tongue. The 5 pin receptacle has about a foot or so of wire , most of it is rubber shielded. It was long enough so that I was able to run it in through the new 3/8ths inch hole (with grommet) and out the front of the trailer to make all connections. Butt connectors and heat shrink were the order of the day for all connections.

Nice...I've been meaning to swap my 5 pin for a 7 round as I think it will make an overall better connection, plus remove my 7 round to 5 pin adapter out of my current equation. I wonder if they make the reverse adapter in case I have someone else tow my boat with only a 5 pin on their truck (like have have on my other SUV)?

@Julian Interesting thought! I haven't seen that adapter yet but I'd venture to say someone has made one.

@Julian I would stay with the flat 5 pin on the trailer and use the 5 flat to 7 round connector. That way you have 2 options and don't have to worry about adapting to a 5 pin.

Now that I look at the components knowing which ones, I have another question... @Rigger , the tongue folds back on top of the 5RR, right? I have to fold it all the way to fit in the barn. Might have to mount differently. How about cutting off the end of the 5 round and making connections inside the trailer?

Yes @txav8r, the tongue does touch the 5RR if folded all the way back but it only sits off a few inches because of the way it pivots when folded, if that makes sense. Fortunately I don't have to do that. If I had to put a measurement on how far the 5RR sticks out without actually measuring I'd say 3 inches. I contemplated making the hole big enough to mount the 5RR into the trailer - which would work just fine - but all that really held me back was not having a bit big enough. I understand what your saying about "cutting of the end of the 5 round" but I don't think you'd be able to cut enough off enough to make a smaller hole in the trailer. It would have been at least a 1 inch hole to get the whole works into and flush with the side of the trailer tongue. I will measure and take a picture of what it looks like with the tongue completely folded back and try also to get a better idea of the actual size of the bit it would take to flush mount.

I wasn't thinking about a flush mount, that is an idea! But what I thought was y0u could just cut the 5 blade round head off the cord and wire it in direct to the trailer, sealing it up good, and just have a hole and grommet it passed through and into the frame...if it is possible to pull the wiring out to make the connection with the tongue open.

I cut the 5 pin connector off and replaced it with a 7 pin connector. The cost was less than $10 but your method is prettier.

With the tongue completely folded! @txav8r your idea would probably work as I understand it.

Why not just use something like this...
