Still waiting on the impeller to come back from Impros for the third time. I ran into a guy with a 2012 AR190 here in Salt Lake and asked him about his performance. He loves it. He is getting close to 37 mph at my elevation with RPM's close to 7500. The only thing he has done differently than me is have his impeller repitched from the company in Colorado that handles the other Yamaha dealer her in Utah. He had an oem impeller that he sold me and it was sent to Colorado today. We will see if my boat performs like his. I sure hope so.
Who here in Colorado is doing the repitching?

Did you ever find the company?
I haven't yet. When it gets back to the dealer I will find out. I did test the 3rd change of my original impeller completed at Impros and I am getting the best performance yet. This time out I added my third daughter to the mix so it was myself, my wife, and 3 daughters on the boat. I hit 7300-7400 RPM with a top speed of 29-30. I was able to pull a tube and give the girls a good ride. Previous to this last change, it was myself, wife, and 2 daughters and was getting 6800-6900 RPM with a top speed of 26-28 mph.

My impeller came back from Colorado yesterday and I was so excited to pick it up I forgot to ask them the name of the company they do business with. I promise I will get the name for you because they are amazing. I just got back from testing the boat with the new impeller and WOW! It was just my wife and I at an elevation of 4500'. The RPM's were at 7,750 and we hit a top speed of 37mph once. Most of the time it was 35-36 mph with the bimini open. The acceleration is pretty much instant and I have zero cavitation. I couldn't be happier. My normal load will add another 200 lbs or so, but can't imagine that will make a huge difference. For the first time in a year...I love this boat.

That company is a keeper, it's not just the pitch, they must be able to get the OD of the blades perfect to fit snag in the wear ring within specs, that more often than not requires welding on OD, not trivial.

Glen at Impros had 3 tries at it and just couldn't figure it out. Maybe there really is a difference between repitching for better performance at sea level vs repitching for elevation. When I pulled the impeller from Impros and put it next to the impeller from Colorado, I was shocked at how different they looked. Both companies have different techniques for sure.

Does CO company use the 6CW impeller, which should be the OEM for your boat? What was the Impros offering?

Both impellers were factory 6CW impellers for my boat. Both just repitched factory impeller.

ok, so we took our boat out last Sunday for first trip.
Boyd Lake, Loveland, CO
Altitude 5,000ft.
temp in the 70s, light-medium choppy conditions imo. it's rarely super smooth unless you get there very early!
4 Adults, half tank of fuel, and light cargo, bimini not deployed for first runs around the lake (I do have the Tower, too, so thats some extra weight)

The hole shot, well, there barely is one, lol, lots of 'wait for it'
I could only hit 30mph tops on boats speedo every time I was driving. (did not double check with a GPS, yet)
I was a bit disappointed but not too surprised, honestly.
Now, I do know the gas in it is old, like probably around a year. I did treat with some Seafoam but a light treatment not knowing what had previously been added.
My plan was and still is to use up as much of the old fuel in it as possible, which we kind of did. Used a tad over a 1/4 tank,
then replace the spark plugs, pull the 'ribbon' out of the intake, pull the snorkel inside air box, add some fresh fuel and go see if things improve.
Did anything improve for you?

I had to chuckle when I read your post title "Anyone with SX/AR190 boating above sea level?

My smart ass mind immediately thought....huh...I wonder if anyone is successfully boating "Below Sea Level"

Which is possible in a couple of places I guess...like the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee...(I actually saw a Seadoo jet boat at the marina at the north end of the Sea of Galilee)

All... I am still having low end hole shot issues. If you can hang on long enough to board then you are in good shape.

However... I just did the Ribbon Delete and at Pineview Reservoir Utah / 4,900 ft ASL I actually hit 42mph at 7,000 RPMs. I did have just a little wind at my back and when the wind died down I averaged 40 mph still at 7,000 mph.

I would like to know about this impeller change as well since I would rather have the hole shot increase to plain vs top end speed. Also I need to rid my air box and go with the open filter. Any ideas on the intake filters?

If I were you I would try to get to higher RPM to get more boost... Depitch the impeller and offset any potential cavitation/slippage on hole shot with the L13.

Forgive me but when you refer to "L13" what is that?

I would contact Dick's Boat Shop and have them send your impeller off to get repitched. You should absolutely destroy my AR190 and you are only about 3-4 mph faster than me.

I have 2 boats.

I did the Ribbon Delete on my 2012 AR190 since the Ribbon Delete the 190 is now faster than my stock 2019 AR195. I will be doing a Ribbon Delete on the new boat as well. And if I can change out my filter box and do the ribbon delete then I can most likely hit 45 to 50 in the new boat.
