@swatski , a little surprised at this. Disclaimer: I haven't needed to do this on my boat. But I thought that it was a matter of pulling the rail, dropping in some 5200/4200, and putting the rail back. What am I missing that would affect the cosmetics, etc. as you suggest?

Thanks.
You are not missing anything. Except: try doing that without leaving a trace of your fix!
(Hint: near impossible)

A dealer/boat trader will take a rub rail that looks re-done as a red flag. In older boats that would be a tell sign the cap was lifted and possibly major work done. Or - the rub rail’s been... leaky! (Yeah, imagine that)

A seasoned Yamaha boater would probably just shrug it off. “They all leak” as Yamaha dealers like to say. But I would personally not touch the rub rail, unless I had to or from the inside (good luck with that, lol).
(I’m being a bit sarcastic here in this post, of course)

Glad to have you on board Kawazmi,

where are you boating at ?

How long have you owned the boat?
Which storage compartment are you seeing water in?
Do you normally keep you boat in the garage, outside with a Yamaha cover, in the water at a boat slip?

if I understand all above correctly, you sprayed water from the inside and it is leaking out as visible in your picture correct? I wonder if any of us did the same would we see the same results?
Thats correct. No high pressure either, just stuck the water hose in the small void beneath the swim deck from the inside and watched the water start coming out.

I was steadily seeing water coming in from that side of the boat.

My clean out tray is removed right now(for the purpose of locating the leak) which made it easier to get hose in there.
Leaking rub rails would be a common issue. These boats are two halfs joined at the rub rail. The boats are not intended to be run with the rub rail below the water line. That said, when you launch on the trailer the stern rub rail always goes under water....so the longer you sit on the ramp, the longer you have water coming in. I agree this is a problem that it would be nice if Yamaha would solve, but I suspect they'll say "the rub rail doesn't need to be perfectly sealed".

If you surf and sink your rub rail with ballast....this will, of course, exacerbate your leakage problem.

The leak is in all infront storage and the ski storage
I think we have another member in Dubai or UAE, I can't remember their name at the moment, update your profile page with your location so we see it on your posts, some of our advice my be better directed if we know where your at and don't have common things to us available to you,

Is it wet under the front seats or in the closet storage area? which side of the boat?
how wet is it? puddles of water or just moist?
I would check it throughout a day of boating, as soon as you put the boat in the water, after docking, after slow idle, after a few high speed runs, after anchoring, to help isolate when the water is entering (since you keep it in a garage we can rule out rain or a bad cover).

My first guess would be your anchor locker drain, we've had reports of very poor installation at the factory causing wet spots in the front of the boat. I'll look for a thread about it,

.

Thanks I will update, about the leak as you say it's wet under the front seats and in the closet storage both sides , then I feel that it's heavy from front . Specially when I crouse on slow speed

Yes, then my bet is with @Scottintexas : anchor drain issue. Go check out that thread he posted and see if you have the same issue with the drain at the bottom of the anchor locker.

The other common reason that people get water there is from rain going into the cupholders. Those usually drain right onto the compartment carpet (some have plugged them or routed a hose from them into the bilge). However, as your boat is stored inside or under a cover, that is likely not the issue. And in Dubai, I am guessing you are not getting those heavy rains we are having now in Texas...

Ive fill the bilge with water and cant see any water leaking on the outside.

Ive tried to completely dry it out and narrow down where water is coming from but it seems to be from somewhere that I cant see through the few openings on boat.

I plugged the anchor locker drain and the drain for the stern storage compartment where the clean out plugs are to rule out intrusion there.

There does seem to be water standing on both port and starboard side on the outside of both clean out tubes. There is a small pocket on both sides that I can feel water in but cant see due to the clean out tubes. If these "pockets" are filling up with water from somewhere I cant see, where would it be? It looks like water may spill over out of the pockets and get into bilge.

Dealer says they cant find a leak so it must be fine. I get 20-30 seconds of water draining after a few hour outing with nobody getting in or out of the water.

2016 242 Limited S.

Ive searched all the threads I can find on this topic and gone through all the checklists of common areas.

Anyone found a secret troubled leak spot that is hard to locate?

Thanks
I have the exact same problem on my brand new 2018 242 Limited S from day 1. i’ve been to multiple dealerships and gotten all the bullshit. My suggestion is ignore it and enjoy the boat because I have spent almost 2 years trying to figure this out and still nothing. I have invested in a micro camera and hope to view areas of the boat not otherwise accessible but it has never gotten worse and honestly I’m just used to it at this point. I was positive, in the beginning, that the water that was pushing up through the clean out ports was overflowing and finding its way into the bilge but after sealing that entire compartment, center access lid and even around the fresh water fill, so as the water could only drain out of the drain, I realize that that was not the issue...although I’m sure it was not helping. The harder I run my boat the more water I accumulate. It does not seem to take on water when it’s just sitting, but I have gone over this literally for two years now with multiple dealerships and they just look at me and throw their arms up and say they are “wet boats”.
