I hope it’s OK to post threads here for boat related companies that are not boat dealers. If not, please move this to the proper location.

I started calling around in early March about getting new snap-on bow/stern covers for my boat. The ones that came with it when I bought it last year were stiff, faded, and a couple of snaps broke during the season. I called around to a few shops - it was hard to get any of them to actually pick up the phone so I had to keep calling:
  • A shop in West Bend that replaced the bimini cover on my previous boat at the beginning of last summer. They were not taking any new boat business for 2021.
  • A shop in Allenton - never called me back after leaving two voice mails.
  • A shop in Omro that was about a month out and couldn‘t give me a firm date as to when they could do the work.
I was a bit nervous at this point as maybe I had waited too long to start looking. I found one more shop that was a little farther away from original search area - N.E.W Canvas in Neenah WI. They answered the phone right away and told me that they could get me in the following week if need be. No hemming or hawing, no drama, straight forward and easy-peasy. I told them my boat was coming out of storage on 4/5 and that I would drop it off the same day but needed it done by the end of the week. They said that shouldn‘t be a problem as they usually knock covers out in a couple of days. So far, so good.

I arrived on 4/5 and spoke with the owner - Matt - about the covers and he recommended the Aqualon material. It’s fade resistant, repels water well, dissipates heat, and has a seven year warranty. The covers come with vents/polls and the bungee attachments for the stern.

I called Friday morning to make sure they were done and picked up my boat at noon. The new covers are sturdy, well made, look great, and are more pliable than my old covers. A nice touch is that there is a rain gaiter that extends up the tower on each side to prevent water from getting into the boat at that seam point. This was an issue with my previous cover and is a nice touch.

These guys also do boat interiors (upholstery, cushions, flooring) and detailing. Based on the service that I received, I highly recommend them.

Looks like so high quality work!
Way better than whomever made the previous snap-on covers and they're really good guys. There are few companies that I feel good about giving my money to but these guys are on that list.

Been looking around for a company that can make a bit of an enclosure for my CC... emailed and called a local place to return message in either forum.

Might be a cool trip to take and go boating on one of the Great Lakes while I’m getting it done.. will definitely check them out.

May I ask what you paid for the cover you got?

Thinking of something like this...

The two other places that I eventually got on the phone gave me a price of $1200-$1300 range and these guys were in the same ballpark - I paid $1290 including tax.

Here's their website - looks like they do what you're looking for from what I can see in their photo gallery:

Right on.... sounds like a fair price for such a nice cover! I saw that they make some traditional bimni type of covers with iseinglass in them. I’d like to have a shelter like the one I posted.. three sides on my boat for those days where it is windy / cold and or you are dealing with quartering seas. My boat is generally a very dry ride, but when quartering into 30-40 mph winds, the spray gets grabbed by the wind and thrown back at you.

Thanks for posting about this company!!!!

On another note... did your trailer come with that diamond plate over the fenders? Looks pretty trick and functional!

It did, I think it’s the factory Shorelander trailer.

I didn’t take any photos of the stern when I picked it up but it fit very well. The previous cover used 4 bungee type loops that wrap around posts on the bottom of the swim deck and the new cover uses them as well. A nice touch on the new cover is the bungee loops have tabs on them so they’re easy to grip - old cover just had the loops.
