Our driveway, six years in the making

At the end of 2008 we started clearing our completely wooded lot. All we had were trees, a little bit of city pit that I had dumped before we started a D4H and a B21.



This picture was taken during the first day.



@Emma was small but she wanted to help. She spent some time on the dozer and let us know every time a tree fell.



@Rana even helped out



We gave away all the firewood and pine for lumber that we could but we still had a few fires.



At some point I drew this as a guide for the driveway construction.



I had to upgrade equipment



Cutting the access to the basement garage was a challenge





Emma had grown a little but she still wanted to help



When we finished the dirt work we had used 1,200 yards of city pit gravel on top of 342 yards of rock that we excavated from the lot.

Tonight I watched @Rana drive the kids home via our freshly concreted driveway.

We added the concrete in three sections. The last of which was the last 300' to the road which is gravel in this picture it was around 55 yards.



The biggest chunk of concrete is from the basement (our boat lives in the right stall) up the hill and across the front of the house. The water in the picture is 92' feet below the driveway and the house across the lake is over 2200' away.





Our concrete comes in 10 yard six wheel drive trucks.



The concrete is 16' wide until the gate where it drops to 10'



I have lost count but it is safe to say that we over 200 yards of concrete in the driveway.

I have also run out of excuses not to start the landscaping. So it will be a busy spring!

When my brother in law had his house built, you could catch hell if you turned your wheels on his concrete without moving and left a tire mark on it.

Haha! That's the first thin I thought of when I saw Bruce's driveway, it'd drive me nuts for a little while!

I will be posting those as soon as I build it! This lot was a compromise between the view for @Rana and lake front for me.






We have 200' of lake frontage but it is 92 feet below the house down a 30 degree slope. I have a currently stalled project to build a "ski lift" down the slope to a boardwalk and dock that I will construct there. I am hoping to get the steel and cable in place during the winter and spring then start on a dock late spring or early summer.

We are west of the Sandbar on Lake Hamilton in the bay where Cearly Creek enters the lake.

My is truck is particularly bad about that so I have gotten over it already. What may drive me crazy or at least create a lot of work is all of the leaves falling on the driveway.

Wow....totally cool looking....looks like a whole new thread for us to watch the progress on! I've got nothing on that scale in the works!
