Hello everyone, I have a 2004 Yamaha SX230 Jet boat and I’m trying to figure out how to remove the smaller side panels that are by the drivers seat and the passenger seat to get them re upholstered. There is a plastic access panel that has a Phillips head bolt which just continues to turn when I turn it counter clockwise. I’m assuming that’s the access panel to be able to unthread back of the nuts to be able to get those small panels out? Any help would be greatly appreciated . I have attached a close up picture of what I’m talking about

Will prob have to find a way to get to the back of the bolts. Most of that stuff requires someone really small to get back in behind it from a storage compartment

Does that big plastic piece underneath it need to come out in order to be able to take it out?

I’m re doing the upholstery and those are the last 2 pieces I need to take out one on each side. On ur 08 have u ever taken those 2 side panel pieces out?

No but i have taken the swim deck cushions off... and there were a ton of bolt that it took a small person to reach.

Do those rear seat cushions come out and have storage area under them? If so maybe just cram yourself in there to get to the nut. I imagine the other side is accessible from the helm storage space as well.

I've never had that insert out. There is a wood board covered with carpet foward of the rear seat that comes out - you should be able to reach the back bolts from there, and then go for the front ones from the storage area. I have no idea how hard that insert would be to get out (and back in).

The insert im talking about is the skinny upholstery piece on the picture I attached. The one directly on the left side of the passenger seat and there is one directly to the right of the drivers eat.

Yup....I know which upholstery you refer to. What isn't clear is the access panel you reference. (parts 21 &22 in the diagram). Unfortunately the parts diagram is no help! You are going to have to look back there to see what is holding it. I use my phone with light on and video recording in spots like that.
