I'm searching for a ECU for my 2006 - 230HO of which I have found 6P6-8591A-00-00.
This part # has since changed to 6P6-8591A-01-00.
Do any of you know if this newer version is compatible?

Bump...

May I ask why you are searching for an ecu? I assume you have problems. Are you sure it is the ECU?

20150606_124820.jpg Problem presented as #3 injector sticking wide open, replaced twice in a 18 month period.
Pulled the ECU box and found this. I've owned the since 2011.
Swapped ecu's and all us good, thus the need for a new/refurbished one.

cheers!20150606_124820.jpg

Is that melted too?

Ouch! How's the water getting in?
Well I have owed the boat for almost 4 years now, and I keep it in a dry storage so I know that it didn't happen under my watch. I guess the question is how long can water last before evaporating?
My suspicion, as this boat originated in OK and was traded in at Phil Dill, is that it was under water at some point..Looks like Oklahoma red dirt/mud.

Cheers!

Is that melted too?
No its not melted...From what I understand it has to do with how the seal/pot the unit when closing it up.

Cheers!

Yeah...it almost looks like a water line across the bottom of the box. Does the other one look the same?

Nope, all dry and clean.

I feel for you @marc7 , I need a specific ecu for one of my waverunners and cannot find a used/refurbished one so my only option is to go new , yamaha sports plaza sells them for $1,200 ish, ouch!

Thanks @Ronnie Finding a used/refurb 6p6-00 is a challenging task....I am still searching for a solid answer on the compatibility of the 6P6-01 to a 6P6-00..I'll drop the $1200.00 on a new if it is. This is the first thing bad $$, in 4 years on original purchase of $20K...I feel like i'm ahead...

Cheers!

Update (2-weeks late), I found a used 6P6-8591A-00-00 (112 hours) for $550.00 which corrected the sticking injector.

Cheers!

Marc, I need a 2005 ECU sx230, where did you get yours?

Long shot but I'm also searching for one for a 20005 SX230 HO. #4 injector is wide open... If not, I may try www.CarmoUSA.com for repair. Anyone use them before?

I did , it didn't work out for me, came back tagged unrepairable but based on the reviews and the number /types units they work on I may have just been the un/ lucky one.

Thanks a bunch! I thought I saw somewhere on their site that if they can't repair it they will sell a refurbished one for the same price. Gotta read a little more to figure out my actual part number. Got my fingers and toes crossed.

The part number is or should be embossed on its face. Another place to look for it is on Yamaha sports plazas site.

Exactly same problem...

How the heck does water get in there?

Gonna let it dry out, clean, reconnect and see if anything changes. Also may be a good time to check the other side. Has anyone drilled drain holes in there?
