I took my 2011 242 limited s out the other day well on the beach the boat started taking on water it was not running there were no obvious signs of a hole or breach to the hall can anybody help me out and give me some ideas of what it could be causing this problem? Also the bilge pump did not automatically come on when this happened. I did turn it on manually and it worked but by that time there was too much water I had to have it pumped out. Any ideas or help would be appreciated

You bilge switch needs to be on when the boat is in the water (unless you rewired it).

If it took on water while not running there are a number of possibilities:

  1. A through hull fitting, like depth finder or speedo
  2. An exhaust fitting
  3. Your deck drain scupper...although with a 2014 it is above the waterline unless the boat is beached at a strange angle.
One simple step if you are Trailering is to leave the plug in and stick a hose in the bilge and see if water leaks out anywhere. The next step would be to have the boat in the water and look in through the clean out tray to eye ball for the leak.
