Hi all! Just joined the forum and would like some opinions. Have the opportunity to purchase a 2014 Scarab 215 HO Impulse twin 250hp with digital ride management, underwater/ docking lights, and premium sound.

My question is would you purchase this boat as a leftover, which means it's a year old already or would you just order a 2015 with the same options but likely will not get the same type of discount. What I'm getting at is are any of the improvements for 2015 worth it in your opinion(s).

I know 2015 has a better radio head unit and just some minor cosmetic upgrades. Am I missing anything of importance here? Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Personally ...... I'ld suggest a slightly different "Decision" route:

I'ld ride in the SCARAB ... Listening to the noise factor ..........
and then I'ld go ride in any model of a 2015 24-foot Yamaha ........... and listen to the noise factor.

The difference might SHOCK you .... And then again, it might not. I am betting on the former ...... that it will.
"SHOCK" is a strong word, but I feel it is likely appropriate in this case.

I know many of us would appreciate your reply if you decide to do this.
And WELCOME to the forum. Glad you're here !!!!! :Welcome:

What is the price difference between the two?

I am still waiting for pricing on the 2015 model that is similarly configured. My guess it is going to cost me approximately 3 to 5 thou more for the 15. The Yamaha is a nice boat as I currently own one, but not the 24 footer. That size is at the very maximum that my association will allow at the dock.

Currently thinking of sticking to the 21 foot size at least for now. Owned a seadoo s200 speedster prior as well and never had an issue (knock wood) with the supercharged Rotax engines.

Just looking for opinions on the differences between the 2014 and 2015. Thanks for the replies thus far!

@Jet16 The 215 Scarab 14-15 model years are the same boat, literally. Since the 14 was released late in the year 14 there were no changes, not even cosmetic.

You are in great shape on the supercharger front, BRP changed their design in 2007 and have not had issues since.

Have a great time on your new boat!

I'd go with the 14 and save the money...assuming you get a good deal on it. But I'd also listen and ride in a 2015 24' Yamaha like Mikey says.....that quietness factor is really appealing!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm actually picking up my new boat on Saturday. Got a decent deal on the 2014. Had the dealer change out the 2014 radio and remotes for the updated 2015 set up. Also had them do a dual battery set up since the boat will be docked in a wet slip for the season.

Enjoy that new boat!!!

Congrats - jet16.jpg
