2018 Charleston Pinopolis Lock Cooper River Run/ Hilton Head Gathering 5/12 and 5/13 2018

Hey All. I'll miss this year...again. we bought a fixer upper investment property and we've been hemorrhaging cash and time......don't want to dip into any Bimini 2018 funds forcing me to drink your beers over there !

enjoy the run ! sounds like another beauty !

@Andy S @robert843

Move me to the confirmed column for the full trip. Just booked my stay at the Days Inn. And, called the marina. Had to leave a message for the dockmaster, so should have that sorted out tomorrow.

Still working out the logistics of my other travel plans, though. What are the chances that someone at Hills Landing (either staff, or member of our group) could help me launch/retrieve, if I want to tow with the motorhome?

Btw, my wife thinks I'm crazy, since it'll be a 13 hour drive just to get there. Lol! :)

I'd be more than happy to help with launch/recovery and bet others in our group would to.

Pretty much any of ue would be willing to help... just try to figure out when u r gonna be there and post it...

@Andy S I reserved a boat slip online today. In the notes, I mentioned that I was willing to raft up with you, as you mentioned. I haven’t received confirmation from the dockmaster yet.

The website did charge me $90. So, I guess they got that fixed. :)

Based on @Seadeals posts it is starting to look like I may be the odd man out staying in Charleston Saturday night and my neighbor is following my lead. I am going to talk it over with my family and my neighbors and see if we want to go to Hilton Head instead.

As for rafting up at shelter cove I would like to make everyone aware that I am in the process of making custom high grade fender covers. The cheaper material is like under armor stretch fabric but 4 times as thick. The expensive stuff is real 3mm wetsuit material. Parachute cord and locking slides for the top and bottom ties. Going to see which material I like better and possibly offer for sale on a limited basis if anyone is interested.

We haven’t abandoned you yet. I have hotels in both places right now...lol. My friend who ran with us two years ago is pondering whether or not they will join in. Sounds like they have a preference to run the river to Charleston only. Heck, I’d be happy to do either leg at this point but trying to get the boss comfy with timing as she is concerned about the kids. I will say, if we run the Cooper, I will probably put in below the lock like last time. We would ride the lock on the return to give us the most time in Charleston.

Hey guys is it to late to join? If not, I would like to join from Hills landing. We would probably do the entire trip.

I have added you to the confirmed list for the whole trip if anything changes just keep us posted just want to make sure no one who is definantley joining gets left behind at the launch point thanks and welcome to trip and great first post!

Got confirmation via email of my slip reservation at Shelter Cove Marina. It didn't say anything about rafting up.

This is the correct website, right? https://www.sheltercovehiltonhead.com/dockage-rates

I had to Google it, I couldn't figure out how to reserve a slip from the links provided in the first post of the thread.

Yes sir that is the site.

I can’t wait! Ordered my ram xgrip for iPad mini, waterproof case for iPad, and a handheld vhf HX870 last night.

I’ll have my pickup if u need a hand.

I will confirm this weekend but it looks like the kids are staying home and we will be taking one boat with another couple (our neighbors). Not sure if our boat or theirs but going all the way Hilton Head. We decided we could not miss @Andy S pole dancing and are bringing plenty of singles ;)

Seriously .... looking foward to our first trip to Hilton Head and meeting new folks.

Thanks! Probably won't know our plans until the week of, but good to know there are a couple helping hands if we decide to tow with the motor home.

I just made my slip reservation with Shelter Cove. Getting excited!

Just saw this, planning on presenting to my wife this afternoon. My only hold up might be my sister law school graduation weekend prior in lexington virgina and the weekend after my sister wants to go camping around charlotte on lake somewhere.

We just got our 2006 sx230, I grew up on salt water Seattle/florida.

I figured she was going to call me crazy when I presented bimini to her but she was excited. We won't make this year but our 10 year anniversary is 2019 so we are looking at bimini then.

The boat has been used on inland lakes whole life besides adding sync tabs to it anything else y'll would recommend to prep boat for this/bimini?
