We just bought a 2020 Yamaha AR240 a weeks ago and trailered down from Michigan to Baltimore Maryland. I traded a 2018 Sea Doo RXT230 PWC, the wife and I loved the Jetski and the 62 mile top speed! I fact the new boat is awesome we just missed the scary feeling of flyings on top of the water (our top speed with the AR 240 is 51 miles) However our kids really appreciate the boat purchase LOL!

Towing our AR240 with a 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison 4x4 Short bed.
We got 12mpg. Looking forward to warmer weather and a trip to Bimini this year!

Our playground is the CHESAPEAKE BAY!

What do you all recommend to do to this boat as worthy upgrades?

Welcome and congratulations in the new boat! I wish I was hitting 51mph in my '16 AR240. The 4,500' elevation here in Utah kills the top end power, the best I've seen is 45.5mph. Which isn't bad perfomance for these boats here.

My #1 upgrade for your boat is the Hydrophase Ridesteady GPS speed control. It was primarily designed to hold exact speed during watersports which it does phenomenally well. Way better than the stock RPM based cruise assist. However the other feature that's nearly as cool is it has the ability to digitally synchronize the RPM's of your twin engines and it does it will do also during regular cruising. Besides a few other obvious differences you'll feel like you saved yourselves $20k on an E-series. It's an absolute must have if you're into any watersports.

If you are into any watersports and are looking to gear up let me know. I can hook you up with some good discounts and give you some recommendations thru my company, Transom Watersports.

We're on the upper Chesapeake, maybe we'll see you out there. Jets are great options for the relatively shallow upper bay. My only recommendation would be to be cautious overloading your tow vehicle. You are already over capacity for the boat/trailer dry.

Congrats and enjoy!

PS, we kept the supercharged wave runner, so I could get my speed fix! You'll be back some day.

Wow. Big boat little truck

Welcome! I'm at the other end of the Bay, there are several bimini trips getting posted up here if you're looking to join a group.

Tough crowd around here with the tow vehicles, unless you're driving a semi-truck it always seems to bring the comments.
Looks like you can tow at least 7000 with the rig, more than enough for a 5000 boat.

Congrats!

I certainly would not have made a comment if the vehicle in question had a 7k limit, but this particular model maxes out at 5k. The DRY weight of his boat and trailer is slightly over 5k. Add gas and equipment then some stuff in the bed of the truck, passengers etc, and he’s probably 1-1.5k OVER the GCVW limit. Does your comment still stand?

Hi and :Welcome: to the forum. Lots of great people here to help keep you safe AND on the water. Ton of mods you can do to help with safety and performance. Good luck and enjoy!!!

WOULD LOVE TO JOIN THE GROUP AND DO BIMINI

:Welcome:
We're out in the OC/Bethany area and you'll love the boat around here. Not as fast as your ski but I've seen 52-54 regularly depending on fuel and people on board so it'll get you where you want to go plenty fast - and you won't lose a prop when it gets shallow all of a sudden!
As for mods, hoo, boy, have you come to the right place! We'll have money flying out of your wallet with plenty of suggestions in no time!

you are so right about money flying out of the wallet, we already had "The Talk With The Wife"about that lol....so easy to spend money on this beautiful beast

just installed the extra suspension leaf and bump stops, both nice upgrades and my truck has the optional towing pkg with the tranny cooler, all set for Bimini and Florida..lol

See you out on the bay and congratulations on the new purchase. Your going to find the 50+ MPH choppy on those 2'+ days so I think you are going to be okay with your new setup. Are you out on the bay already this season??

great, I will have to do that same trip. Did you drop in at a boat ramp and name of the place? Thank you

When I want to travel north on the Chesapeake Bay I use the gunpowder state parks ramp with ample parking there is an annual membership $80 I think for all state parks

When I want to go to points south on Chesapeake Bay like the Harbor or Annapolis I go to Wilson point across from Martin State Airport that’s in Baltimore County and the ramp it’s free to County residents (In two years I have never been asked to provide any kind of documentation)
My cell phone is 443-955-4656 let me know anytime you want to head out with both boats

I launch out of nearby areas as well. Right now my boat is at the APG South Marina. Spent all last season in and around the bush and gunpowder rivers and didn’t see many Yamahas. I’ll take you up on the offer to get out there together when the weather warms up.

I can hook you up! What it's the weight range of the riders who'd be riding the board, also the shoe size for bindings?
