Hi - new to the forum.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the SD & SE ? The compare function on the Yamaha site is not working.

Download the app. Works great. But as stated above, it’s literally trust the DRIVE system.

New here too and also can’t tell the difference in the SE and SD. The specs both say they have the drive system and this is for both models on all boat lengths.

Both have Drive-by-wire/single throttle capability like the 2020 SE and X had last year.

Only the SD has DRIVE (the paddle controls for docking).

Well someone in the marketing dept should fix this or rename the label. Also would be nice to explain the difference between "Yamaha Drive Control" and "DRiVE". The website really needs more features detail and should explain the differences between models. Guess I am supposed to call a dealer and let them explain it to me, LOL.

Frankly the website looks slapped together and lacks depth in photography of the new boats as well as specs. Namely, its doesn't list ballasts for any of the 212x models or the lower end 255 model or mention which models are wakebooster compatible. The narrative on these products and the experience they deliver is pretty poor in my opinion.

The SD also has power steering

Yes agree. You would think they have had plenty of time to get it right. Most of the engine pics they show are wrong for the boats, look at the AR210. I had no idea the TR-1 was now a 4 cylinder. Actually most of the pictures don’t go with the boat model you are looking at but I guess the website is a topic for another thread.

I have come to the conclusion the website/data person/persons IS/ARE NOT a boater........

Some have LISTED 70 gallon tanks, some have 75 gallon tanks??? (I highly doubt it as tank manufacturing/TOOLING/epa approvals are expensive)

Trailer weight and dry weight are the same????

And i agree....”Drive control” and “DRIVE”.......THIS IS THE BEST YOU CAN COME UP WITH TO NAME 2 SEPARATE SYSTEMS?????

Yes I noticed that about the gas tanks. I do IT management and I would be fired in about 30 seconds if I let that stuff go into production. Guess they only had 24 hours to slap this together. I am really not trying to hijack this thread, but Yamaha wants me to pay $60k+ for a product and they can’t even put a picture of the right steering wheel or motor on the page for the boat I am interested in.

Back on topic, I think the only to really know the difference in an SE and SD is to check with your local dealer and hope they have more accurate info.

They should really call it "Throttle by wire" and leave Drive for the forward/reverse paddle controls.

This confusion around the "Drive" wordmark Yamaha's marketing is using reminds me of the shear insanity of Microsoft's use of the "Windows Live" wordmark. Challenge - follow all the changes here and raise your hand if you have any idea what they were trying to accomplish: Windows Live - Wikipedia

Somehow, they were surprised at the lack of market acceptance and (apparently) never learned that they had wildly confused most of their users.

Maybe Yamaha hired the former Microsoft person(s) behind "Windows Live"...

Can anyone verify the interior color of the 252SD/black? I saw on another post that someone said both the Blue and Black were warm interiors.

On the Yamaha flickr site the photo of the 252SD/black shows cool/grey interior. However it looks to be rendering/photoshopped so who knows.

I don't see on their site where it show interior color like they did for the 2020's.

Yamaha is fixing this as we speak....all 25 foot boats (except FSH) have 70 Gallon tanks.

black has a grey interior
Blue has a brown interior

I had the same questions to my dealer as I really did not want the brown interior.
I have on order the Black with Grey

Thank you for this clarification. I was hoping they were not both brown.

I was confused about the colors. I have on order the 2021 SD, and I originally wanted the black with warm, but the dealer informed me the black only comes with grey and the blue only comes with the warm. I went to a boat show recently and I saw the grey interior looks much nicer in person than the warm. The photos are enhanced and the warm one looks less luxurious in person.
