Friends - I summarized my 15 Scarab 215 recently. I believe the radio I have is stock (removable face maybe sony?). It's like dead. No juice whatsoever. Played around w/the wires in the back with no luck? Any idea why this is happening?

If it's dead, I'm just going to upgrade. The only question is ... to what? I think I want something w/a remote. Recommendations for radio/speakers?

Lastly, is it worth getting the 2 rear speakers added? Thx!!!

I've never had any luck with removable face plate stereos in boats....to much moisture to mess them up. Fusion is a front running marine unit...

So I too have the old Sony. I got one season out of it and it crapped the bed. What a piece... I had it replaced under warranty and shockingly it's been good the following 2 years (knock on wood).

Though I have no experience with marine branded stereos, I can back up the idea of the rear speakers. I have the upgraded sound system and the rear speakers are def worth it in my opinion. Though I guess it all depends on where you spend most of your time. I'm usually backing my boat all the way up to the shore while we hang out on the beach so the rear speakers get plenty of use. If you're going through the trouble, be sure to add another controller back there as well to save you from having to climb in and back out just to change the song.

Same thing happened, it was the plastic connector (wire harness) that attached to the radio. I had to move the pin connector individually.

our sony went out too. Moisture got into the RCA cables and messed it up. Replaced it with a marine style one from wal-mart i believe. replaced the RCA cables. Good as new. Next we will be updating the stock kicker speakers. Its seems as if they are dry rotted. Check those out too.

Great idea, I'd not thought of that.

Ya I went through three all u Der warrentee. I put the third one in and discovered ACF50. This stuff is amazing. Never had any radio issues since.
I put it in all my cannon plugs, key switch, light switches and electrical outlet plug I can find. Stuff is unreal good.

Btw... If you just blue tooth look at fusion radios. Cheap.
