Any of y'all do PC gaming?

Never been a PC Gamer outright. Used to play Unreal Tournament with some buddies at the office on Friday afternoons to blow off steam. Bought a PS3 when they were first released for the BluRay Player in it. Ended up with Gran Turismo and got totally wrapped into that. Had a steering wheel, shifter, pedals, and a metal frame with a seat from a Grand National. Dismantled that when we moved into the new house a few years back. Also REALLY got into Portal for awhile. Sadly I can't operate two joysticks at the same time to save my butt, so I never got past a certain level and gave up. The 6yr old thinks it's neat so I might try again here soon.

In the last 17 years I've gone from having to be careful about what I play in front of my kids to getting my rear-end handed to me by them in most games. (Sometimes the Old Man can surprise them though. It's not like when I used to play against MY Dad and he didn't know which end of the Atari Joystick was up...)

Yeah...Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem (Damn I'm looking good!)....then of course there was Space Invaders on the Atari!

Now I've been playing Far Pointe on PS4 VR....graphics are amazing!!!

@Julian I don't play video games much at all maybe once or twice a year I will bust out the old school Nintendo and play some old Tecmo Bowl football. My daughter is asking for a plaaystation VR for Christmas what are your overall opinions on this since you have it? We do not currently have a PS4 so I will have to get that as well is it worth the investment in all that? Also do you feel the Move controllers are a necessity to get the full experience? I had that about buying a suped up PC and getting the ryft or vive instead just not sure.

My neighbor had it last Xmas, I tried it, and just had to have it...so I went out and bought it! So I think I'm biased! LOL The PS VR graphics are not as good as the PC version (name isn't coming to me), but it is also plug and play and easy to use. The move controllers are a necessity! I have the PS4 Pro, VR, 2 Move controllers, 2 regular controllers, and Far Pointe with Rifle....

Come on up and try it out!

It may seem daunting if you've never done it but it's not so bad and IMO anyone could do it. In the end you come out with a better performing machine that should be designed so that's it's somewhat future-proof for several years.

This is exactly what I used to do, then my time became more important....so I stopped building PCs and got lazy! LOL I don't get to play much at all....so a PS4 really is more than I need....but I splurged....

My current home gaming PC is still doing fine with a 4770k and older GTX 780 SC card. I'm able to still play most new games at high or ultra setting at 1080p and get 60+ FPS. I plan to upgrade to a GTX 1080Ti next year so I can get into 4k gaming.

This is one of my 3 work PC's. I use this one primarily for photorealistic rendering and animation work but it would be fun to game on it. It is getting a little long in the tooth these days for GPU rendering so it will eventually be upgraded to triple GTX 1080 Ti's and I will have them all liquid cooled. Currently this setup is for air cooling but as you can imagine it can get pretty loud when you crank up all 12 fans.

That's insame, when I pc gamed I had a 56 k modem and less memory than a cell phone from 5 years ago. The x box one x is liquid cooled btw.

Ah yes the 56k dial up days heh. I'll never forget hearing it dial out for the first time. Tripped me out knowing we were on "the net" . I remember how mad my dad would get at me if he was working online and I picked up the telephone. Look at us now

Our first PC was a Commodore 64. My first console was a ColecoVision and it had the craziest controllers ever. Each game came with its own card that you slide into the controller. That was your 'button mapping' lol. It was way ahead of its time. Later on had an Atari and of course the NES. Watching 8 bit gaming go to 16 bit we thought we were in the future . Look at us now with crazy high definition and fidelity gaming.

Commodore 64 with the 5 1/4 in floppy drive was my first computer too! Then I got a daisy wheel printer for printing term papers.

First machine was a purpose-built gaming machine: The Atari 2600! From there I had a Commodore VIC-20 (hooked to the TV of course), then an Apple //c (with green-screen monochrome monitor). First "IBM compatible" was a 386 40Mhz. (Of course it had the "Turbo" button to slow it down to 33 MHz (or was it 16 MHz?) to run older software that used CPU ticks for timing.) Next was an Acer Pentium 60 MHz, followed by a Dell PIII. (I keep my machines for a LONG time.) I think there was another one in there somewhere but I might be mistaken.

I built the machine I'm using now (something I always wanted to do but never had time to do because the previous machine had died and I needed a new one "now"). It's an i5 on a ASUS Motherboard. I'm still using the on-board video, so when I do PC game, I have to turn graphic settings down - but it works for my budget. I've never even had a "real" graphics card.

Anyone into space games? I play Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. Currently having a good time testing the latest alpha test build of Star Citizen 3.0 PTU.

Crashed a huge freighter last night I filled with tons of diamonds and biowaste cargo. Learned the hard way not to try and fly a massive ship like a fighter so I ended upside down wedged in some rock cliffs on a moon lol. Nearest station was 84 km, so yea that was gonna be a walk

Which game is that? I've always liked space exploration type games, that sounds right up my alley.

That would be Star Citizen, but I will warm it’s super Alpha and not a fully fleshed out game yet. If you have a PC that can run it decently it can still be good fun to have, especially with others.
