Battery switch question

16 242se, standard 2 battery setup. I just picked up the boat yesterday. Is it normal that both battery switches have to be on for the connext/dash to power up? I would think you could turn off the start battery when hanging on a bar and just keep the house on. This doesn't seem to be the case in my boat. Just want to make sure everything is connected properly.

With only the house battery on, try pressing and holding the sys button.

I leave both mine on. With solar panels I see no reason to turn off one battery while out on the boat during the day.

I suspect the connext screen wont be happy if it isnt getting engine connections.
