Bimini run 2nd week of May. Hoping the weather will cooperate

I am planning a Bimini run in 2nd week / weekend of May. I am flexible on going any day from 8 - 11 and be back by the 13. Right now the weather is showing strong winds for that week. I am monitoring the weather apps. I would appreciate help from any weather experts here that can assist in reading the weather patterns

I would like to think that the weather apps were that accurate this far out.....another 5-7 days will be needed to start really evaluating....I wouldnt make any decisions at this point.

It is way too early to expect any accuracy in forecasts.

The forecast periods are long which would be nice.

The wind and current both are coming from the south and crossing the waves that would be hitting your bow. The wind is likely to create a second smaller wave pattern.

@Bruce what is the rule of thumb to determine a good crossing ? Is it wind or waves ? You mentioned that wind might create a second wave pattern. Does it mean rollers ? Thanks.

I have attached a PDF of one of my favorite wave tutorials that seems to no longer be online.

The 7 to 10 knot winds should create up to 2 foot waves moving perpendicular to the forecast waves. This creates a confused sea state that is similar to the surface of a waffle.

I would not be excited about the crossing in Yamaha but I assume you are crossing in a significantly larger vessel.

It still is a long way out to be concerned about the forecast and that forecast is for the beach. The wind may pick up in the stream.

Looks nice to me. The predicts change in wave direction around 11 could make for interesting wave patterns. With the wind across the waves it could be a little choppy all day but the morning looks like a pleasant crossing to me. I would be expecting to trim the bow down a little and push through the waves with minimal discomfort.

Had to postpone the crossing as it was 2 am when we finally reached Miami (flight delays). Will try for Friday or Saturday crossing.
