Unfortunately, I’ve sucked a boat bumper into one of my jet drives. I cut away as much as could. The bumper goes into the boat where I can’t get, any ideas. Where should I go from here?

Um... I don't think we give any extra points for a fender... I think you are out of luck.

Oh, you want to remove it from your boat? That's different. My recommendation would be to remove all 4 spark plugs from that engine and then pull on the fender from below to see if you can get it to unwind. If that doesn't work, try turning the engine backwards to free up some space for you to get in there and cut the fender loose.

He wasn't saying anything bad, just being humous as they are trophies/points given for certain things on JB's
The spin engine backwards is a good idea or remove the 4 bolts holding pump may give you some extra space.

Hope you get it fixed.

Pictures are also helpful and will get you trophies/points

I sucked up a inner tube (truck) once. I could not pull the pump and had to cut out little pieces of rubber a bit at a time.
@Stalt We are here to help. Can you post some pictures?

Yeah, they are right. Just a little jetboaters.net humor. Sorry about that.

Oh, and I have not been ok in years... :)

Pulling the pump is an option, if you can get it off with that wrapped around the shaft--that is why I didn't recommend that first. My thought was that if you could unwind at least a little bit, you could at least cut the fender line. Then you can pull the pump if needed...

@tdonoughue ......thanks for taking the hit.....really glad I didn't ask "How the H3LL did you suck-up that fender?" or maybe "Exactly how SMALL are your fenders, anyway?"

This thread is a reminder for those who suggest, myself included "tossing a fender overboard" and practice manuvering the boat around it, to remove the fender whip (line) first. I am not saying that is what happened here, but just a reminder that we need to be pay attention to all ropes, lines outside our boats whether they are ours or others even if they are only five feet long.

Yeah....its a quick job to just pull the pump....and it looks like if you did, it would be much easier to get that out. If you include your location in your profile you might even get someone who's done it before that lives near you give you a hand (I just did this for a member near me). You'll find its super easy.

5 bolts and the quick connect spring release on the bucket reverse gate connection....and its off. Things to watch out for....don't lose the bushings on the steering connection and make sure the pins on the pump don't drop off.

I would remove the grate and keep cutting at it. And / or lube the shaft with some silicone or something to help slide if you decide to pull the pump.

Good thing is, it doesn't look like it made it to the impeller, just impressively bound around the shaft.

I can’t get the drive shaft out. I’m going to have to go from underneath.
