Calling plumbers in the forum lol

So I started digging soft spot and there is no pipe, 2 ft down and sand is dry lol. I do not have irrigation (that I know of). I will make an appointment Monday for plumber to detect leak (as coult suggested) and if I have outside line I will ask for plumber to install shutoff valve. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, appreciate it

Just an update,this morning I turned on main for 15 min to water my plants and when I got back inside I see some puddle in the pantry next to bathroom….looks like I found my leak source but I will just hire plumber tomorrow to fix it. I guess I’m still lucky cause I was away for a week and it did not flood entire house.

Another update. So plumbers came and gave me estimate for just fixing the leak and repiping the house. I decided to repipe entire thing and not worry about it anymore. They will start work tomorrow for now I take bath in the pool lol. Thank you all for the advice, this is really the best forum I ever joined.

That is a sound way to proceed. There’s a good chance you’d fix one leak to just have another. Are you going with copper or pex? How long will it take them?

Its probably pex (im not really sure), he said its the latest bendable pipe with no joints and have 25 year warranty. THey will be rerouting through the roof.

I will have official quote today to sign im sure it will be there.

Edit: it will take them 2 days but he said i should have usable water by tomorrow night.

Friends of ours just bought a house near us that was built in the 80’s that is all piped with cpvc. They decided to have the whole house repiped with pex during the renovation. Smart idea in my eyes.

My plan is to slowly renovate this house too, so it make sense for me to upgrade now and not worry anymore.

I had a leak under the slab, they came out with a stethoscope and head phones and quickly identified the spot, jack hammered through and there was the pin hole in the copper pipe,

If I realized how easy it was I would have jack hammered it myself,

I'd much rather have pex in the ceiling than risk continuous possible leaks and ruining flooring and going through the slab to fix,

PEX is the way to go. I would make sure they seal all holes. I have seen several times where they knock out drywall behind a cabinet to run pipes and just leave it open. Make sure they install a quick turn-off valve in the house too.

they told me i have to wait for the inspector before sealing hole but its not in the contract I will have to seal after they leave which I dont mind, it looks easy in youtube lol

And creating sink hole under slab here in FLorida lol. 43K gallon where the hell did it go i probably have a parking garage hole size underneath my slab now lol

I would find a company that finishes the job. IMO that is a half-ass job. I understand for permit reasons but they need to come back and finish it. I have seen like 2'x4' holes before. It's not a hard fix but not easy.

Pex repipe in Texas 2 years ago on a small house. 2 quotes. $5k and $6k 2 days, sheetrock and paint matching all in.

Right before the freeze too, so it all worked out.

If pricing seems crazy get a second quote where they do all you want.

Paid 6K with 3 outdoor line so I can water my yard. This does not include patching holes, all othesst reputable company are far from me so I just approved this quote. I need a proper showert (not just dip in the pool) and im tired of peeing in my yard already lol.[/QUOTE]

Repairing drywall well, is not easy. I would get a professional to do it.

It’s finished today 9 hours 6 person crew. Inspector coming In tomorrow, happy with the job but I have 12 hole or so to patch but they made almost perfect square so I can just push it back and it stays I will buy sealer and drywall tape to seal it and will repaint entire house. I just found out I have plywood and sheetrock walls (2 layer), no wonder it is harder to drill.

Inspector coming In tomorrow, happy with the job but I have 12 hole or so to patch but they made almost perfect square so I can just push it back and it stays I will buy sealer and drywall tape to seal it and will repaint entire house. I just found out I have plywood and sheetrock walls (2 layer), no wonder it is harder to drill.

I have done lots of dry wall work. It is not difficult but take your time and it will work out.
