The boat lift instructions say that the boat should be positioned so that you have equal distribution of weight to the front/rear rails. Yamaha dealer dealer didn’t know. I assumed that it would be about where the trailer wheels are when the boats on the trailer, but then again the tongue is pretty heavy so the center of gravity has to be somewhat in front of the wheels. Anybody really know?

You'd have better input posting this in General Discussion, but I will say this: (+-) above the front axle should be very close to equal distribution of weight for the boat. I've no experience with boat lifts, but I can't imagine you can go wrong calculating if off of that.

I assume the bunks on your lift are 10-12 feet long? I'd just be pulling the boat on so that the rear of the boat lines up with the back of the bunks on the lift. That way you are supporting the main section of the boat. With an inboard your weight is all in the boat. Where you have more of a concern with a lift like that is if you have 2 big outboards hanging off the back of the boat....your weight ends up ALL the way to the stern.
