in Florida there are gators in most bodies of waters however they don’t like the noise from the boats or traffic. When we do jump in the water it’s typically near the shore where other boats are and people. My SIL lives in Wintergarden.....seen those lakes a lot when visiting...always wondered....do you worry about gators at all, or do they not bother (most) people?
I live off lake Susan and have access to our neighborhood dock that’s where I dock from.@DeviousOne
Where you typically launch from, and what eateries do you recommend? I’ve been to the Harris Chain of Lakes, but never out to the Claremont Chain. It’s on my list…
exactly your more likely to get hit by a pontoon boat out here then fight with a gatorOh, it bothers me... but I go with the assumption that they stay away from the middle (I know that's not entirely true). We don't swim anywhere near dark. I've never heard of an incident and I think statistically the chances of being attacked by an alligator are really really slim. Much bigger chance of being hit by a drunk idiot with a flag on his boat.
Apparently you can make it to Silver Springs from Lake Griffin. It’s on my list of things to eventually check out via water.planning on making a trip to lake griffin from eustis
I believe it’s about 30 to 45 minsApparently you can make it to Silver Springs from Lake Griffin. It’s on my list of things to eventually check out via water.
I believe its “Haines Creek” that connection Eustis to Griffin, but I’m not certain how long it takes to transverse due to no wake zones and the locks.
