Do you make people take their shoes off before getting in you boat?

No shoes allowed in our boat. Bare feet only. People attempting to wear shoes get the sumo-toss overboard quickly. Only once so far. Cam.

Here's my dilemma.
Eventually I will take delivery of a shiny new boat. I will be anxious to use the boat for the first time and this spring will be cold. One activity available ... fishing ... now this could all get pretty messy with bait and fish and muddy shoes all over... I sold the "fishing" boat. Now, with any luck, we will have a new boat with some range, comfort and most of all, dependability. Cleaning product recommendations appreciated.

My wife wanted to make me sell the fishing boat when we decided to get the new Yamaha. Once I reminded her of the mess fishing makes and cooked a nice crab and salmon dinner I was told that I should keep my fishing boat and there will no fishing off the new Yamaha. More toys, more better!

MISTAKE >>> just sold the fishing boat... all I needed was a new motor on it.

Yes. I say please and nobody has issue. There are a couple of real old relatives that I don't ask. Just glad to have them on the boat. Anything to make them more comfortable.

I ask people to leave them on the shore if their shoes are going to be muddy. If they come off a clean dock they can bring the shoes.

Sorry to say I will wear flip flops but that is about the extent of it. Sometimes we will stop somewhere for a sandwich and an adult beverage.

We have a collapsible mesh square basket (think smaller and sturdier collapsible laundry basket with super fine mesh that dirt won't pass through) that we put shoes into on the dock, then place it in the ski locker or the head compartment. Or if it is just me and my wife sandals under the front seats

People get on my boat with shoes, but they come off immediately. We found that the little space under the cushion at the bow of the 240 is the perfect spot for a few sets of shoes...

Aside from the clean factor, on water it is also a minor safety issue. If you go over accidentally while we are underway, swimming without the shoes will be much easier.

'Sometimes' fit's for us. Water shoes do not bother me as long as they are rinsed prior to boarding. Also, no walking on the seats. Carpet gets crazy hot in the direct sun and if you step on a carpet snap? It's over. So soft-soled water shoes are cool with me.

I'm ok with shoes as long as they aren't black soles that leave marks and they must be clean! Bring sand into my boat and you'll get THAT look!

We depart from a clean dock so everyone boards with shoes and then doffs them. We have a lot of beach front bar/grills that we like to frequent and shoes are nice to have on old boards and hot concrete.

Sides it's mostly just us on our boat and we all have boat shoes or scuff free bottoms. Worse comes to worse I have a small supply of Magic Erasers on board
