To replace the delaminating sound foam on the underside of the engine hatch I need to remove the hatch.
Found some easy access to the hinge nuts I thought I would pass on. Removing the back cushions, I found access holes to the hinge nuts.

Also found 2x4's or 2x6's were the perfect thickness to hold the hatch in place while removing the screws.

Thanks for the info. I was considering the same. My hatch is also not very well centered. Was thinking of filling and drilling new holes.

Yeh, it surprises me that Yamaha doesn't use alignment blocks for their installs. I've had to re-align some of my hatches.

@Foobar My 210 was delivered with the delaminating sound proofing. Question, did your noise levels improve once you fixed it? Did you replace with same material? Thanks

I re-glued the foam on the underside of the hatch. I added extra foam in the engine compartment. Yes, it made a big difference.

Hi, I have a 2020 242S and the sound proofing material is deteriorating so bad that if touched its falls like plato material ( thick sand) . I think its because of the heat - any recommendations on how to solve this problem , can i spray something over it to not have it fall so easily or should i just replace the whole thing. Where can i buy it from - any website?

Thanks !

Replace it. Reattaching it at this point, since it's failing, is just a band-aid. There's several threads here that lay out what people have done to replace the soundproofing, with pics and links. You'll wanna read through those, so it's best if you track those down, many answered questions already, and you'll have the attention of the specific people to hit up who will have experience with this, as well as a plan of attack.
